Stuck in a situation where you don’t land one of the top seven fantasy quarterbacks? Still, do you have other positions that you would like to add depth to before grabbing a quarterback? Below is a list of three quarterbacks with great upside, that can be taken later in drafts, so you can stock up on your running back, and wide receivers. (Based on 12 team leagues on Sleeper)
Jayden Daniels
Jayden Daniels– The second overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has all the upside and potential to be a top-10 quarterback at the professional level. That goes for fantasy managers and league-wide rankings. Daniels has all the upside in the world. Whether it be throwing or rushing the ball. In 2023 alone, Daniels rushed the ball 135 times for 1,134 yards and ten touchdowns! That was good enough for 8.4 yards per attempt!
He is currently coming off draft boards between the 9-11 round, his ADP of 115.6 (Sleeper) has him the 15th quarterback off the board. Depending on how many teams you have in your fantasy league, and how they draft; if you can snag Daniels anywhere from pick 110-130 you should be perfectly happy. Expect Daniels to contender for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
With the weapons he has at receiver, Terry Mclaurin, Jahan Dotson, and Dyami Brown. Tight ends Zach Ertz and Ben Sinnitt, who are two of the best receiving backs in the league over the past three years in Austin Ekeler. Daniels has the weapons to have a phenomenal fantasy season. With him being selected so late in drafts his value is going to be through the roof! Don’t miss out on this guy!
Jared Goff
Goff has finished the past two seasons in the Top 10 for fantasy finishes at the quarterback spot (Sleeper). 2022 saw Goff finish 10th after being projected to finish 16th. He averaged 17.1 pts per game. In 2023, Goff finished 7th after being projected to finish as the QB 20. He averaged 17.7 points per game in ’23.
With the Lions roster not taking any major losses to the weapons in free agency expect Jared Goff to continue to out perform his projections. He is currently the 14th ranked quarterback on the board for Sleeper, having proved he can finish in the top 10 fading the quarterback position until the ninth or 10th round may not be a bad idea with a guy like Goff available.
Bryce Young
Bryce Young-The number 1 overall pick in 2023 had a rough rookie season. After throwing for 2,877 yards, 11 touchdowns with 10 interceptions, taking 62 sacks to go along with it. How much worse could it have been? Simply put, not much. So why is Young a value at the quarterback position?
The Panthers went into the offseason with two things in mind. Weapons and protections. The team front office addressed these issues by adding several pieces to the offense. Veterans Diontae Johnson, Robert Hunt, and Damien Lewis. Hunt and Lewis should anchor the middle of the line, giving Young the time to stand in the pocket and find his receivers. They also added rookie Xavier Legette, WR from South Carolina. Running back Jonathon Brooks and tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders are both out of Texas.
Young is currently slated as the QB 28. Which is understandable, considering how poorly the offensive line played last season. Having the additions of the new weapons this offseason and the interior protection, look for Bryce Young to soar through the QB rankings, finishing closer to the top 10 than the bottom 12.
Final thoughts
Having found yourself in a tough situation, whether it be you refuse to draft a quarterback early, or maybe you’re in a 2 QB league. These three options all have the potential to be Fantasy football heroes for your team in the later rounds of your drafts!
