NFL DFS Week 6 is upon us. Each week, we spotlight some core plays to help you build a winning weekly DFS lineup on Fanduel and DraftKings. In building a successful lineup, we research and find positional values to see where you can save money and players with projected low ownership who can pay 2x-2.5x of their listed DFS salary.
You bank on getting a minimum of 20 points from the quarterback position, you can not miss this position. Expect to pay up at the tight end, you can save at other spots. A successful strategy can be the QB-TE stack. These core plays will give you a nucleus for your DFS build.
Perhaps most importantly, you don’t need me to tell you to use Jayden Daniels or Lamar Jackson in DFS Week 6. These recommendations are designed to give you players we feel will be low-owned, in smash spots, and/or give you a unique DFS build.
DFS Start ‘Ems
Here are a few of the players that we are leaning on heavily in this game. These players are in a good spot to have a solid performance and a favorable matchup.
Dak Prescott ($6.7k DraftKings and $8k Fanduel)
Dak Prescott has a nice matchup this week against the 27th-ranked Detroit Lions pass defense and he could go lower owned with a main slate that includes Jayden Daniels and Lamar Jackson. Prescott comes in as QB9 and tied for sixth in the NFL with 8 touchdown passes. This week’s game against the Lions has a DFS main slate high 52 implied game total. We can start Dak Prescott with confidence in a game with shootout potential.
Josh Jacobs ($6.7k DraftKings and $7.6k Fanduel)
Josh Jacobs gets the 26th-ranked Cardinals run defense in week 6 and comes in as PPR RB24. Jacobs gives us a nice volume floor with 98 touches through five games and an excellent 4.5 YPC. Jacobs had a season-high 75% snap rate and 2 red zone carries last week against the Rams. Josh Jacobs provides a safe running back DFS option this week.
Drake London ($6.7k DraftKings and $7.4k Fanduel)
Drake London is in a smash spot this week against the 23rd-ranked Panthers pass defense. London has hit his stride the past three games averaging 11 targets, 8 catches, and 2 touchdowns. He is now PPR WR7. Kirk Cousins is coming off his best game last week against the Buccaneers and should have little trouble finding London.
DFS Sit ‘Ems
On the flip side of things, here are a few of the players we recommend sitting in this one.
Justin Herbert ($5.5k DraftKings and $7.2k Fanduel)
Justin Herbert is a do-not-use for Week 6. The Bronco’s defense has been solid all season and ranks fifth in points allowed to the quarterback position. Herbert is QB30 overall in fantasy with only 5 touchdown passes in four games. The Chargers passing offense is 31st in the league and is a run-first-based team. Outside of a super flex league, Herbert should not be in your DFS or redraft fantasy leagues.
Rhamondre Stevenson ($6.1k DraftKings and $6.8k Fanduel)
Rhamondre Stevenson bounced back last week with 17.2 fantasy points but this week gets the Texans defense ranked ninth running back points allowed. The Patriots are starting rookie Drake Maye in Week 6 and feature the 31st-ranked offense and Stevenson is one more fumble away from a potential benching. Before the Week 5 performance, he had 6.5 total fantasy points in the prior two games. We are sitting him this week against the Texans.
Quentin Johnston ($4.7k DraftKings and $5.8k Fanduel)
We are sitting Quentin Johnston for the same reasons, we did not recommend Justin Herbert. Quentin Johnston faces a Denver defense ranked second against wide receiver points allowed. They feature one of the league’s premier corners in Patrick Surtain II. who most likely will be matched up against the big play threat Johnston. In the past two games, Johnston has only 3 catches for 53 yards and 13.2 fantasy points. The Chargers are bottom five in total offense and bottom two in passing offense. We are sitting Quentin Johnston in DFS this week in a very tough statistical matchup.
Total Apex Stud of the Week
Jayden Daniels ($7.3k DraftKings and $8.7k Fanduel)
Jayden Daniels is in a smash spot this week against the Raven’s defense ranked 29th in quarterback fantasy points allowed. In the past three games, Daniels has averaged 24.6 fantasy points per game and is QB2 overall. The game against the Ravens features the second-highest implied game total on the main slate at 51.5. The only option for us here was Lamar Jackson and you can not go wrong with him either this week.
Total Apex Dud of the Week
Anthony Richardson ($6k DraftKings and $7.3k Fanduel)
Anthony Richardson was inactive last week with a hip injury, however, returned to limited practice today and remains questionable for week six. Richardson is a fade for us this week as he gets the Titan’s top-ranked pass defense and minus top wideout Michael Pittman who is expected to miss multiple weeks with a back injury. Richardson is QB27 this year, completes barely 50% of his passes, and has only 3 touchdown passes. You have to start him if he is active based on where you drafted him, but we do not expect much.
Stacks of the Week
Recommended Stacks: Dak Prescott-CeeDee Lamb/Kirk Cousins-Drake London/ Jayden Daniels-Terry McClaurin
Additional Recommended Starts: Jared Goff/Kirk Cousins/David Montgomery/Tony Pollard/Chase Brown/Brock Bowers
Conclusion
Each week in DFS your payline for FanDuel is approximately 125 points, which is 2x per player. For example, a player with a $4500 salary needs 9 points. DraftKings pay line is approximately 134 points, which is 2.5x per player. So for a $4500 salary, that player would need 9.9 points. We also want a DFS lineup unique to the masses. You want players that are projected for low ownership.
