3 Players to Avoid in Your Fantasy Drafts

Houston Texans Nico Collins Tank Dell wide receivers

Important decisions are being made throughout your drafts, and today we are going to help you not make the wrong one. These three players are players you should avoid drafting whenever possible. Whether it is because of their lack of experience at the professional level or the situation they may find themselves in. There are better options available around the ADP of the players listed below.

Anthony Richardson

Avoid drafting Anthony Richardson in your fantasy leagues in 2024.

He is being drafted as the sixth quarterback off the board on Sleeper. Richardson should be avoided at his current ADP of 56. Anthony Richardson has talent beyond belief, but his lack of experience in the position should cause concerns for fantasy managers. He has the potential to be a valuable draft pick for fantasy managers based on his rushing upside. Does his rushing ability constitute him being drafted as the sixth overall quarterback?

Statistically speaking Richardson wasn’t great last season through the air or on the ground. During the four games he played in, he completed only 59.5 percent of his passes for 577 yards and 3 touchdowns. While adding 136 rushing yards and 4 rushing touchdowns. If you go back to his 2022 season at Florida you can see his trouble with inaccuracy has followed him to the professional level.

2023 saw Richardson average 18.4 points per week ranking him 13th according to Sleeper. A fine number for fantasy, but everyone saw how long he was available for Indianapolis last season. The rushing numbers are a major bonus for fantasy majors, but his rushing ability may end up being his ultimate downfall. If Richardson can stay healthy, and has figured out his glaring inaccuracy issues he may crack the top 12 as a fantasy quarterback… but there are better options available at much better ADP.

Tank Dell

This one may be a bit of a shock to some but looking at his current situation in Houston things look bleak. The Texans added several key pieces to their offense in the offseason. Trading for former Buffalo Bill Stefon Diggs and former Cincinnati Bengal Joe Mixon the Texans offense improved. Tank Dell goes into the 2024 season projected as the WR 26 with an ADP of 54. His average of 15 points per game is going to take a hit in 2024 based on the improvements the Texans made to the offense.

With his current ADP being such a high number for a third option on a team, fading Dell should be a priority. Having Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs ahead of him for targets is concerning. Over the past four seasons, Diggs has averaged 161 targets per season, albeit for a different team. Dell slides from the wide receiver two down to the wide receiver almost by default.

Dell is being drafted ahead of number-one receivers like Amari Cooper and Christian Kirk. While also being drafted above clear number two wide receivers like Tee Higgins and Chris Godwin. Drafting a guy in the fifth to sixth round who is the number three receiver on his team with a much-improved run game is a disaster waiting to happen. Fade, fade, fade.

Ezekiel Elliott

Zeke is being drafted as the 38th running back off the board at an ADP of 114.3. If you find yourself getting the urge to draft Ezekiel Elliott, don’t.

Over the past three seasons, Elliott has hit a decline. From 2021 to 2023 Elliot has seen a decrease in several major statistical categories such as rushing attempts, yards, and yards-per-carry.

Zeke finished the season as the running back 37 on Sleeper, averaging 10.3 points per game last season for fantasy managers. With Rico Dowdle seeming to be ready to lead the backfield in 2024, Elliots’ opportunity to be the main guy in the backfield is going to come to an end.

Conclusion

Make sure to avoid these three players in fantasy to ensure you have the best chance to win your fantasy football league. If you want to earn bragging rights with your buddies then stay away from the players mentioned above.
