Zamir White enters his third season on his four-year rookie deal with the Las Vegas Raiders, presumably as the starting running back to start the 2024 season. This offseason, Josh Jacobs signed with the Green Bay Packers, agreeing to a four-year, $48 million contract in one of the biggest free agent signings this offseason. The former Georgia Bulldog has accumulated 521 rushing yards and 98 receiving yards throughout his first two seasons in the NFL.
Last year, White finished the season as the Raiders’ lead running back after Jacobs had his season come to an early end due to injury. Now, he enters the 2024 season as the RB1 for the organization. In five seasons with the Raiders, Jacobs ran for over 5,500 yards, so there should be plenty of room for White to run in this offense.
Is a 1,000-yard season on the horizon for the Raiders’ starting running back in 2024?
Zamir White 2023 Stats and Fantasy Production
Zamir White logged time in all 17 games last year with Las Vegas, but it was the last four games when he really came on as a feature back. After Josh Jacobs went down for the season in week 14 with a quad injury, White ran for 397 yards on 84 carries. With well over 20 touches per game over that time period, White proved he was capable of being a bellcow for the Raiders.
In 2023, White amassed 73.9 fantasy points in full PPR leagues, but 60.7 of those came as the lead-back over the last four weeks of the season. His 15.18 ppg over that span was good enough to be the overall RB12.
Zamir White 2024 Fantasy Outlook
In Weeks 15-18, Zamir White averaged 23.3 touches and 114.3 total yards as the RB12 in fantasy points per game. During his short sample size as the team’s starter, he ranked 13th in explosive run rate and sixth in yards after contact per attempt. With Josh Jacobs heading to Green Bay, White should be a mid-high-end RB2 with upside for more in 2024.
According to Fantasy Pros, White is projected as the 104th overall pick and the 32nd running back off the board in standard leagues. In Full PPR, his ADP is 126th overall and the 36th highest drafted running back. In Half PPR, Saquon is projected as the 106th pick and the 32nd running back off the board. As a starting running back, he is being criminally underdrafted right now.
Entering 2024, I project Zamir White to accumulate 1,250 total yards, 40 receptions, and 7 touchdowns. He is projected as a 13th-round pick in season-long leagues, but again…that is theft. If he stays healthy, White should be an easy RB2 who you can currently get at RB3-4 capital.
Final Thoughts
White will be 24 entering the season and should be entering the prime of his career. It would be highly surprising if he did not have a productive season in 2024. The Raiders also added Alexander Mattison in the offseason, but he shouldn’t scare you off from drafting Zamir White in the 7th-8th round.
This year, he is in a good spot to produce similar numbers to what Josh Jacobs traditionally produced. Barkley should easily be an RB2 in 2024.
