Zack Moss enters his sixth season in the NFL, but his first for the Cincinnati Bengals. This offseason, Moss signed with the organization, allowing them to trade away long-time running back Joe Mixon to the Houston Texans. The running back from the University of Utah has compiled 2,076 yards rushing, 523 yards receiving, and 18 total touchdowns in his career.
Last season, Moss finished as a top-30 running back despite being used as Jonathan Taylor’s backup for the majority of the season. Now, he has joined one of the premier offenses in the NFL and will serve as their primary running back. This offseason, he signed a two-year deal worth $8,000,000 with the Bengals.
Can Zack Moss sustain last season’s success with Cincinnati in 2024?
Zack Moss 2023 Stats and Fantasy Production
Zack Moss played in 14 games in 2023 for the Indianapolis Colts, rushing for 794 yards and five touchdowns on 183 carries. He turned 37 targets into 27 receptions for 192 yards and two more touchdowns.
Moss started off the season as the starting running back for the Colts when Jonathan Taylor began the season on the physically unable-to-perform list. In his first five games of the season, he gained the third-most rushing yards (445) and the third-most attempts (89) in the league. In those five games, he scored 145.1 fantasy points (full PPR), which was good enough for 29.02 points per game.
Zack Moss 2024 Fantasy Outlook
The 26-year-old showed he can lead a backfield when called upon. He should see significant volume in the Cincinnati offense. Last season, Joe Mixon finished with the fifth most carries with 257. He also had the third-highest percentage of team carries in the NFL at 67%. With him now in Houston, we can assume that Moss will get the first crack at the starting job.
According to Fantasy Pros, Zack Moss is projected as the 152nd overall pick and 47th running back off the board in standard leagues. In full PPR leagues, he currently has an ADP of 165 and is the 50th-highest-drafted running back. In half PPR, Moss’ overall ADP is 156 and he is the 46th running back drafted.
Entering 2024, I project Zack Moss to gain over 1,000 total yards, 30-35 receptions, and eight total touchdowns. His current ADP would suggest he is being drafted in the 13th-14th round. In that offense, I see him more of an eight or ninth-round selection, especially since his only real competition for carries is Chase Brown.
Final Thoughts
Moss will be 26 years old during the 2024 season and has displayed the ability to lead a backfield. Like most running backs, he is susceptible to knicks and nagging injuries. However, he has been pretty durable throughout his career.
Like I said with Zamir White, he is being criminally undervalued. His current ADP shouldn’t hold up, but if it does, he is an absolute steal at his current value. A projected NFL starting running back should never be drafted as low as his ADP currently is. Considering who he will be playing for, he should be considered a low-end RB2 to high-end RB3.
