As baseball hits the final four series of the regular season, teams are fighting for every playoff spot while guaranteed playoff teams are looking to get hot at the right time. With this American League matchup, the New York Yankees are looking to hold onto the lead for A.L. East while the Mariners are three games out of a playoff spot. Every game matters in September and especially when both teams need some good wins heading into October.
Yankees at Mariners DFS Starts
Yankees 2B Gleyber Torres($7,000 on DraftKings)
Of all the Yankee players that will be facing Bryce Miller tonight, Torres has some of the best numbers. The Yankees second baseman is 2 for 5 with an .800 OPS. Not just is this a great matchup but Torres has been one of the hottest hitters for New York. Torres is hitting .397 over his last 30 games four homers and 14 runs batted in. For DFS purposes, this is a safe bet as teams still plan a lot more for Juan Soto and Aaron Judge, which leads to Torres getting better pitches to hit.
Mariners OF Randy Arozarena($7,600 on DraftKings)
The Mariners big trade acquisition has delivered on both sides of the ball and this is a great matchup. The Mariners will be facing off against lefty Nestor Cortes and the former Tampa Bay Ray has the most bats by far on Seattle against the Yankee southpaw. In 26 at bats, Arozarena is hitting .269 with a 1.076 OPS. The former All Star is primed for some success in game two of this all important series.
Yankees at Mariners DFS Sits
Yankees 1B Anthony Rizzo($5,800 on DraftKings)
This Yankees first baseman has a great legacy in the game of baseball and many DFS players probably will go for Rizzo in this game because of the value but that really isn’t a good idea. From an offensive perspective, Rizzo has not delivered wearing the Yankees pinstripes. Rizzo is hitting .220 over his last 30 games and there haven’t been any consistent patches to have DFS players to put him in their lineups. Without a career hit off of Miller as well, I would stay away from the former World Series Champion.
Mariners SS J.P. Crawford($5,600 on DraftKings)
This shortstop has some of the best numbers on Seattle against Cortes but Crawford just ins’t swinging a good enough bat to have confidence in selecting him in DFS. Crawford is hitting .169 in his previous 30 games and while he his hitting .286 against Cortes in seven at bats, there is such a high risk that Crawford won’t be able to produce big enough numbers for DFS. In research, this matchup might bait DFS players into picking him but it probably is a better decision to stay away.
