Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Week 9

The NFL has wrapped up Week 8 of the season and the wide receiver waiver wire for fantasy teams will be active to start the second half of the season. There are not as many players available this season compared to last season. Fantasy owners will have to work with the waiver wire this week and hope for the best. The Pittsburgh Steelers and the San Fransico 49ers are heading into their bye week for week 9. Here is a list of the top receivers available for Week 9.

Jalen McMillan, WR, (TB)

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are without two of their star receivers, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Jalen McMillan will be the number one receiver for the Buccaneers and this will last for three weeks until Mike Evans returns from a hamstring injury. McMillan was targeted 7 times, catching 4 passes for 35 yards. He has 15 targets over the past two games and looks better positioned to have fantasy value. Jalen McMillan is 49% rostered in PRR leagues.

Cedric Tillman, WR, (CLV)

Since the Cleveland Browns now have a different quarterback with Jameis Winston, Tillman just 9 receiving yards entering late October. In the last two games, following the Amari Cooper trade to the Buffalo Bills, he’s drawn 21 targets and turned them into 15 receptions, 180 receiving yards, and 2 touchdowns. He is rostered 19% in most PPR leagues and non-PPR leagues. Tillman should draw some attraction this week heading into Week 9.

Jerry Jeudy, WR, (CLV)

Even though Jerry Jeudy isn’t the greatest option out there for wide receivers, he will still be an interesting option for this week with Winston at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. His 8 targets this week tied for his second-most all year, and he caught 5 passes for a season-high 79 yards. He was the number two receiver in Cleveland when Amari Cooper was with the Browns. Jeudy is 45% rostered in PPR leagues.

Final Thoughts

The waiver wire is getting slim these days, with now half of the NFL season gone, it will get even more challenging for fantasy owners to make adjustments for finding wide receivers. If George Pickens or Deebo Samuel is on your roster, might need to make adjustments to compensate for these wide receivers being out for the week.

The big injury to wide receivers this week was Stefon Diggs, who is done for the season with a torn ACL. Tank Dell is now a wide receiver one till Nico Collins returns from his own injury. Fantasy in Week 9 mostly involves running backs who are running short for the waiver wire and not the receiver options, as there are plenty this week.

As the playoffs approach for fantasy in the next weeks, it is crucial to make your team the best it can be because the waiver wire will get tougher and tougher as the weeks goes on. Make adjustments accordingly for your team as the regular season winds down and into the playoffs.
