Total Apex NBA Fantasy Recap for the Week of October 22, 2024

nba

The NBA season started with a huge bang on opening night. A big statement win from the defending champion Boston Celtics against the Knicks was just the start. That was the sign that the season would be a crazy year regarding fantasy numbers. So far this season, we have seen multiple outstanding performances that have helped teams win in their redraft leagues throughout the season’s opening week. Here are three major highlights from an electric week in the NBA.

SGA and Chet Holmgren are the Duo to Have Right Now

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren have been the best duo in the league, as the Thunder have gotten off to a 3-0 start. SGA has averaged 60 fantasy points on ESPN with the following stat line: 25.5 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game, 5.0 assists per game, 3.0 steals per game, and 1.5 blocks per game. Meanwhile, Holmgren has averaged 55.4 fantasy points by averaging 23.0 points, 15 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 3.0 blocks, and 1.5 steals in the three OKC wins.

This duo will keep you in games if they can continue to wreak havoc on the defensive side of the ball like they have been doing. Also, Holmgren has officially taken that leap that the Thunder needed him to take if they wanted to go to that next level. If you have this duo, you will most likely be a happy camper after the NBA’s opening week.

JJ Redick Has Unlocked the Lakers

The Lakers are 3-0 for the first time since the 2010-11 season, thanks to the creativity of JJ Redick and his coaching style. Redick has gotten the Lakers in creative sets on the offensive end, which has unlocked Anthony Davis and Lebron James even more. Davis has been the best center on ESPN Fantasy right now with his 60.9 Fantasy Points, thanks to three straight 30-point games to start the NBA season.

Lebron, on the other hand, has averaged 46.8 fantasy points, which is the best for forwards based on a 32-14-10 triple-double on Saturday night against the Kings. Redick has also gotten great play from Austin Reaves as well with three massive nights including a 51 fantasy point night against the Suns on Friday.

It will be interesting to see what this rejuvenated Lakers team will do on the road and it will be curious how the fantasy production will grow as the season goes along as they develop with JJ Redick’s approach to coaching offense and defense in different situations.

Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum’s Olympics Revenge Tour Has Commenced

Finally, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum started their revenge tour after their Olympics slight. Since the opening tap against the Knicks on banner night, Tatum and Brown have averaged over 45 Fantasy points in the Celtics three games to start the season. Tatum is averaging 57.3 fantasy points. He has averaged 33 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.3 steals, while Brown has averaged 24.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 steals in the Celtics three game.

The Celtics duo is another one that, if you drafted both guys in your redraft formats, is doing wonders for your teams right now. Brown did have a bad game shooting against the Pistons on Saturday. If Brown and Tatum keep up this level of play, the Celtics will be the team to beat, even without Kristaps Porzingus.
