Tight ends have been the most difficult position to predict in fantasy so far this season. Many big-name tight ends like Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews have mightily struggled out of the gate, while unknown tight ends like Cade Otton and Brenton Strange have produced so far. With the position being a total toss-up, it makes it a tough decision so these start and sit decisions could set fantasy owners up for a massive advantage.
Tight Ends Start’em: Week 4
Bears TE Cole Kmet
Cole Kmet was the most underrated weapon for first-overall pick Caleb Williams heading into his rookie season. In the first two weeks, Kmet was also forgotten by his own offense with awful numbers, but Kmet showed up in Week 3 with a 10-catch, 97-yard, and touchdown performance.
The Bears have the worst rushing attack in the NFL, which led to Williams throwing the ball 52 times last week. If the Bears’ run game can’t get going, that means they will have to throw the ball more, which means more production for Kmet. Ride with the Bears tight end who is looking for some consistency.
Falcons TE Kyle Pitts
The former Florida Gator has had some high expectations heading into his career and for the most part, he has not produced on a high level. The talent is there among the tight ends, but the targets and receptions have not been there, as he hasn’t lived up to the talent that he possesses.
While Pitts only had two catches for 59 yards last week, the team clearly wants to get him the ball more. The Saints just gave up 170 yards to Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert last week, so look for the Falcons to continue the formula that the Eagles have shown that can get done for opposing tight ends against the Saints.
Tight Ends Sit’em: Week 4
Ravens TE Mark Andrews
The Ravens’ tight end had been known as at least a top-five tight end in football over the last couple of years. Quarterback Lamar Jackson has always relied on him in the biggest of situations and he has been able to produce, due to the Ravens having not great depth at the wide receiver position.
After six catches for 65 yards in the first two games, Andrews had no catches on one target in the Ravens’ dominating win over the Cowboys. Not only is Andrews not producing but the Ravens also have found another solid tight end in Isaiah Likely and the Ravens seem to be a heavy run offense.
Patriots TE Hunter Henry
Hunter Henry has been the most reliable pass catcher for the Patriots so far this season, but as we have seen with the Pats offense, this doesn’t mean a whole ton for fantasy purposes. Outside of 8 catches and a 109-yard performance in Week 2, Henry has a combined four catches for 27 yards.
The Patriots are making the cross-coast trip to San Francisco against a 49ers team that needs a win after a collapse against the Rams. The 49ers’ best aspect of their defense is the linebacker position which means it should be a long day for Hunter Henry.
