For most people, IDP players in general are an afterthought. Little to no research is done and even seasoned players just draft whoever is ranked next in line or just a name they know. Here are four defensive linemen poised to make a jump this year.
IDP Defensive Lineman

Here are a few of the players that we are leaning on heavily this year for IDP. The top-ranked players currently are Maxx Crosby, TJ Watt, Myles Garret, and Micah Parsons. So what are you looking for? Pass Rushers…plain and simple. All four players listed here should be able to rack up double-digit sacks and can still be had after the initial IDP rush on draft night.
Justin Madubuike, Baltimore Ravens
If you aren’t a Ravens fan you might be looking this name up, and if you’re like me you’re never going to say his name right. But here’s what you need to know: Baltimore decided this offseason that he was worth a 4 year $100 million deal but Patrick Queen was not. Last year, Madubuike very quietly had 13 sacks so there’s no reason he won’t get more this year. Also, you can pick him up with one of your last picks in your draft so the value for him is pretty great.
Jonathan Greenard, Minnesota Vikings
Greenard put up 12.5 sacks last year in Houston and was able to cash in this year through Free Agency. He takes over for Danielle Hunter, who coincidentally went to Houston. While Hunter will help out the Texans with last year’s Defensive Rookie of the Year Will Anderson Jr., Greenard will be the guy in Minnesota, where Hunter managed to rack up 16.5 sacks last year.
Derrick Brown, Carolina Panthers
Brown is the only player on this list that is not a pass rusher, but adds consistency because he still manages to get in the backfield in the run game. He’s not going to be flashy but does a little bit of everything, so each game he’ll get a couple tackles, a couple assists, the occasional sack, the more the occasional PD, and even got an interception last year. He also has some more help this year with A’Shawn Robinson and Jadaveon Clowney joining the Panthers this year.
Carl Granderson, New Orleans Saints

Carl Granderson just signed a new 4 year extension after joining the team 5 years ago as a UDFA. Each year he has gotten better, and with the help of aging pass rushers Cameron Jordan and Chase Young, he should be able to take the leap. He could go from 8.5 sacks last year to double digits in 2024. Granderson managed to put together 11 games last year with double digit points and is a fringe defensive lineman for most lineups, but could be worth a shot to store on your bench for IDP in case he blows up.
Conclusion
Defensive Lineman are tricky for IDP in large part because pass rushers may be listed as Defensive Lineman or Linebackers. You could argue for either position for all four of the leaders on most rankings so it’s important to check positional availability. That said, all four players listed here should be available after the initial IDP rush of players in your draft. If you can draft a top-three player at any IDP position during the first rush, do so. Stash these players for later and build up your bench with the most talent you can get otherwise.
