ATP/WTA Tennis Cincinnati DFS Value Picks (8/14)

DFS Tennis

It is day three at the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati. This is the second consecutive week of a tournament being a Masters 1000 event for both the ATP and WTA tour. It’s full of DFS play.

While this is day three of the tournament, it is the first day in which the top eight seeds for the men and women will be in action because those seeds got a bye. With this being the last big tournament before the U.S. Open, the event has the majority of top players making it a must-watch event.

Australian Jordan Thompson is a great value pick at $6,300 in his second-round match against Argentina’s Sebastian Baez. Both players had to play round one matches and both matches were nearly 2 and a half hours long. Thompson beat the number 17th-ranked player in the world Ugo Humbert while Baez beat American Marcos Giron who is ranked 45 in the world. Baez is one of the more solid players on tour but his best results are mostly on the clay and not the hard courts in North America.

Thompson, on the other hand, isn’t a player only successful on one surface. Thompson also should have a great amount of confidence after beating a top-20 player the day before.

Another value pick for similar reasons is Italian Matteo Arnaldi at $7,800 in his second-round match against Argentina’s Tomas Martin Ethceverry. Arnaldi is coming off of a semifinal appearance last week in Montreal. It was one of the best weeks of tennis for the Italian all year long. His opponent like Baez gets most of his best results on the clay but that is even more the case with Etcheveryy.

This match comes down to the player playing the best at the moment and an opponent who struggles to win matches on any surface other than clay so Arnaldi is another great value pick.

13th seed Anna Kalinskaya is a terrific value pick at $8,700 against Katerina Siniakova. Siniakova is more of a doubles player than a consistently successful singles player. Kalinskaya on the other hand is having a career season in which she is currently ranked 15 in the world.

Kalinskaya is coming off of two wins in Toronto last week while Siniakova hasn’t played on a hard court in months. The higher-ranked player playing more consistent tennis while playing on a more comfortable surface allows her to be an excellent value pick in this matchup. Recent results are of the utmost importance, which is certainly the case in this match for DFS.
