Bears vs Titans DFS Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em | September 8, 2024

Will Levis

The Tennessee Titans are coming to the midway to face the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field for week one. Both teams had forgettable records last season but are looking to turn the directions of their franchises around this season. Both also have overhauled their offenses looking to manufacture more points. Those players will play a huge role not only in Sunday’s game but also in DFS contests.

Calvin Ridley

Calvin Ridley, WR, Tennessee Titans (DraftKings $8.8K)

Ridley is the Titans’ shiniest new toy on the offense and could command a large target share given that DeAndre Hopkins will be limited in week one because he is battling an MCL injury. The Titans’ new head coach, Brian Callahan, is bringing a pass-heavy scheme to Tennessee in the wake of the departure of Derick Henry. These factors set Ridley up for a perfect chance to receive lots of volume and endzone looks.

Rome Odunze, WR, Chicago Bears (DraftKings $7K)

Odunze was the eighth selection in this year’s draft and for good reason. He has already flashed his talent and big-play potential during the preseason. Keenan Allen is also not 100% coming into the season open since he is nursing a heel injury but is expected to play. Odunze may not command a large target share in week one but he could break off a couple of big plays. For the price on DraftKings, Odunze should outperform his cost.

Bears vs Titans DFS Sit ‘Em

Will Levis, QB, Tennessee Titans (DraftKings $8.2K)

Levis is going against a top-tier secondary this week, which could tank his value in this game. Jaylon Johnson is not guaranteed to shadow Riddley the whole game, so this is why Riddley is a start in this game. Levis on the other hand will be dealing with pressure coming from Montez Sweat and trying to avoid throwing in Johnson’s direction.

When Levis started last season, he did not have numbers that jumped off the paper either. He only had a QB rating of 84.2 and those numbers are skewed due to his week 8 performance where he threw four of his eight touchdowns of the season.

Keenan Allen, WR, Chicago Bears (DraftKings $9.8K)

Allen is the number two receiver in the Bears’ offense, but a heel injury coming into this game could limit his production. Allen was also allegedly overweight during training camp, which could affect his play. Allen should still see his fair share of targets but not all of them are guaranteed to be quality. When he does catch the ball, Allen is not known to have a lot of upside after the catch.

Lock of the Game

Caleb Williams, QB, Chicago Bears, (DraftKings $10K)

Williams is poised to have a great game to start his career. Williams dazzled in preseason with throws downfield that Bears fans have not seen since Jay Cutler.

He is facing a Titan defense that ranked 18th last season that is missing one of their stars, Jamal Adams. Williams has multiple stars to spread the ball around to which will make his first game easy for him to ease into. He also expressed his ability to not let the moment get to him. Safe to say, Williams has all the weapons and chance to perform up to his potential in his first game in the NFL.

Fade of the Game

Deandre Hopkins, WR, Tennessee Titans (DraftKings $7.4K)

Hopkins is set to play in a limited capacity because of a lingering MCL injury in week one. At best, he might be on the field for all passing plays but that even seems like a stretch since Callahan will be looking to pass most of the game.

Hopkins did not perform up to his star status for most of the 2023 season, either. QB at the helm without a lot of reps and a lingering injury it is probably safe to stray away from picking in DFS contests.
