After a high-scoring thriller in the first match, Australia and West Indies are set to lock horns again in the second T20I of the series. As expected, Australia won the 50-over series comfortably, and with probabilities and conditions favoring Australia, it looks like they will also seal the T20 series. But West Indies have that ability to stun everyone when they are written off, and the second T20 could very well be that day. However, whichever team wins, you don’t want to mess up your fantasy points, and for that, we have come up with fantasy tips and predictions for the Aus vs WI 2nd T20I.
Aus vs WI 2nd T20I Details:
- Fixture: Second T20 of the three-match series.
- Date and Timings: 11th February – 7:00 pm (local)/ 8:00 am (GMT)/ 1:30 pm (IST)
- Venue: Adelaide Oval, Adelaide
Pitch Report:
The Adelaide Oval is one of the highest-scoring grounds in Australia, and we can expect another high-scorer at the venue as the Windies take on Australia later today. So far, 13 T20Is have been played at the venue, and the average first innings score stands at a solid 170. The team batting first has won 61.54% of the matches at the venue. Fun Fact: The iconic England vs India match at the 2022 T20 World Cup also took place at Adelaide Oval. Alex Hales and Jos Buttler chased down 169, leading England to a 10-wicket victory.
Aus vs WI 2nd T20I Fantasy Tips:
Since this is expected to be a high-scoring match, one of the most important tips from our side is to go for those players who have a reputation for hitting big maximums and playing at healthy strike rates. So, three must-have players in your fantasy teams are Andre Russell, Glenn Maxwell, and Mathew Wade.
Aus vs WI 2nd T20I Dream XI Prediction:
Wicket-Keepers
- Nicholas Pooran: Nicholas Pooran is the player many will have in their teams, and rightly so. Pooran has faced Australia nine times in T20Is and is yet to fire against them, but looking at the pitch and conditions, today can very well be his day. So, he’s our first choice for the wicket-keeper.
- Josh Inglis: Exactly two years ago, on 11th February 2022, Inglis made his debut for Australia and has played only 15 T20Is since then. He averages 30 in the T20 internationals and strikes at a staggering 158.36, making him our second choice for the wicket-keeper.
- Mathew Wade: Yes, we have gone with three wicket-keepers in our XI, and the third name on the list is Mathew Wade. He has struck at over 140 in the last two years, and this match is a perfect opportunity to make his case stronger for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Batters
- Mitch Marsh: He is a pretty obvious choice for the batters. If the last 4-5 months are anything to go by, this monster must be in your XI.
- Brandon King: King definitely didn’t have a good outing in the recent Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), as he could only score 36 runs in a total of six innings. But, one batter from West Indies who stands out and can perform in these conditions is King.
- Johnson Charles: Charles, who has been with West Indies for over a decade, is our third batter in this XI. He has a very strong reputation in T20 cricket and can hit huge sixes.
Bowlers
- Adam Zampa: Since this is expected to be a high-scorer, one might think batters will only be an important factor in this game, but bowlers will have a really important role to play. Zampa is known for having a knack for taking wickets and is a perfect bowler for such conditions.
- Alzari Joseph: One of the heroes of the second test is a good choice for the bowlers. He also has a pretty good record against the Kangaroos in the shortest format, taking a total of seven wickets in three matches.
All-Rounders
- Andre Russell: As I said, bowlers are going to play an important role on these pitches, and who is better than Andre Russell for an all-rounder as well as captain? He can absolutely destroy the opposition with his destructive batting and can also bowl a good few overs.
- Glenn Maxwell: Maxwell, who played an all-timer in the World Cup a few months ago, is one of the most obvious choices. One might even argue that he is in the form of his life, and when a player like Maxwell is in such form, he is a must for your fantasy playing XI.
- Marcus Stoinis: Marcus Stoinis is the third all-rounder in our fantasy XI. He has a strike rate of 145.97 with the bat and averages 29.00 with the ball in the T20 Internationals.
The captain of our fantasy team is Andre Russell, and the vice-captain is Glenn Maxwell. Both are capable of winning the games on their own, and having both of them in your fantasy XI is a must.
