Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 2025-26 Fantasy Outlook: Repeat MVP Season Incoming?

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the catalyst for the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Championship Run last season, and was one of the top fantasy performers, obviously so, as he won that MVP award last season. Although, arguably, Nikola Jokic probably should’ve won that award because of his historic statistical season. The narrative of that Thunder team was too strong; it was going to be SGA’s award. His fantasy success should continue in 2025, as the Thunder are still one of the best teams in the league, if not the best team. If you don’t believe me, here is his Fantasy Outlook.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 2024-25 Production

Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 32.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game in his 2024-25 MVP season. The Thunder’s offensive philosophy is led by SGA’s ability to be the best point guard in the league, and he can score from the paint and the mid-range. Last season, that skill set was put on full display for the basketball world to see, as he was a top fantasy player in the league, as he was the top guard in fantasy last season.

ESPN Fantasy is currently projecting Gilgeous-Alexander to average 33.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 1.8 steals per game this upcoming season, which is literally an uptick from his MVP season in every statistical category that matters for fantasy. It will be a tough ask to step up the numbers, especially the points per game, because the other 29 teams are going to make adjustments on how they defend the Thunder in general. But if anyone can do it is SGA. FantasyPros is projecting similar stats with 2,471 points, 403 rebounds, 483 assists, 138 steals, and 71 blocks in 2,664 minutes played.

Final Thoughts

SGA is obviously a top-3 option in Fantasy, with only Jokic and Wembanyama ahead of him in redraft settings, and yes he has some potential to be the top player in fantasy by the end of the year. But, those two studs at Center are going to be freaks in fantasy so that’s a long shot. But Gilgeous-Alexander will be by far the best guard option in fantasy with the injuries around the league, with Luka Doncic giving him any potential competition at the positional group.
