Week 4 Matchup

The clash between the Washington Commanders (2-1) and Atlanta Falcons (1-2) at Mercedes-Benz Stadium promises to deliver another chapter in what’s become one of the NFL’s most consistently tight rivalries.

The stakes couldn’t be higher for both squads heading into Week 4. The Commanders are riding momentum from a dominant 41-24 victory over Las Vegas, while Atlanta desperately needs to bounce back from a shocking 30-0 shutout loss to Carolina that left fans questioning everything about their offensive identity.

Washington Commanders

The Commanders enter Sunday’s matchup with legitimate Super Bowl dreams after being one game away last year. They are powered by the league’s second-ranked rushing attack that’s averaging 157.3 yards per game. Even without Jayden Daniels, who’s nursing a knee injury, Washington’s ground game didn’t skip a beat against Vegas. Former Falcon Marcus Mariota stepped in seamlessly, throwing and running for touchdowns while the team posted 201 rushing yards.

Atlanta Falcons

Everyone wants to see how the Falcons bounce back after one of their r most humiliating performances in recent memory—a complete shutout where they failed to even reach Carolina’s 30-yard line. Coach Raheem Morris called running back Bijan Robinson “definitely the best player in football” just days before limiting him to 13 carries for 72 yards, exposing a fundamental disconnect between philosophy and execution that’s plaguing Atlanta’s offense.

The numbers tell an interesting story for the Falcons. In their two losses, Robinson has averaged fewer than 14 carries per game, while in their lone victory against Minnesota, he exploded for 22 carries and 143 yards. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. has shown flashes of brilliance but also concerning inconsistency, throwing two interceptions against Carolina, including a pick-six that sealed their fate.

Prediction

It is surprising that Washington is the underdog. Yes, Daniels is out, but the team was one win away from the Super Bowl last year. And, Atlanta lost 30-0 last week. I do not see an Atlanta bounce-back game against a tough Washington team.

Final Pick

Washington Commanders  +2.5
