The second week of the NBA season had a lot of interesting twists and turns as the injuries started to pick up. We are beginning to see the stars in fantasy this season that will continue to make a huge impact in the redraft format especially guys like Anthony Davis and Luka Doncic. Here are the top three important things from last week that will impact your redraft teams going forward starting this week of the NBA fantasy season.
Paolo Banchero’s Oblique Injury Hurts His Owners
In the first two games of last week, Banchero had 50, 13, and 9 on Monday, and 31,7, and 4 on Wednesday. Then on Halloween morning Orlando Magic fans and Banchero owners got the worst news possible. Banchero’s right oblique was revealed to be torn and now he’s going to be out at least a month maybe more.
This is devastating because he was having an NBA MVP-caliber season for the Magic before the injury and the Magic have missed him so far as in the few games without him they have a 0-2 record only averaging 97 points per game. The bright side for potential fantasy owners has been the emergence of Jalen Suggs in fantasy with his defense and more opportunities to score he’s been averaging over 40 fantasy points per game these last few games.
Chris Paul is back to being the Point God
Chris Paul to end the week last week averaged 10.7 assists per game and 16 points per game for 43 fantasy points per game over the previous three games. After a slow fantasy start, CP3 has finally started to figure out how to get the ball to Wemby and some of the other Spurs players in the spots where they want to have it to score. The main concern with CP3 now is the fact that an injury could happen at the worst time and ruin his fantasy value. I think CP3 is going to continue this trend of production for the rest of the NBA season, thanks to the assists.
Gradey Dick has emerged as a Top Scorer
In the last three games of last week, Dick averaged over 27 points per game and averaged over 35 fantasy points per game in those games. The Raptors guard is still available in over 50% of fantasy leagues on ESPN fantasy, and he’s been averaging 31 fantasy points per game this season so if you need a guard on the waivers, go grab Gradey Dick for depth. I feel he’s going to continue to be the number-one option in Toronto.
