Cleveland Browns vs. Washington Commanders DFS Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em| October 6, 2024

The 1-3 Cleveland Browns travel to Washington to take on the 3-1 Commanders in an NFL interconference battle. The Browns lost a close game to Las Vegas and continued with their disappointing start to the season. Washington went into Arizona and beat up the Cardinals to get back to the .500 mark on the season. Washington now finds itself atop the NFC East standings. Rookie Jayden Daniels continues to impress in the early start of the season and is an obvious start in this one. In addition, Jerome Ford is another must-start in what might be his final week as the Cleveland Bell Cow running back.

Browns vs. Commanders DFS Start ‘Ems

Here are a few of the players we are heavily leaning on in this game. These players are in a good spot to have a solid performance and a favorable matchup.

Amari Cooper ($6.2k DraftKings and $6.2k Fanduel)

Amari Cooper would have had a monster game last week but had an 82-yard touchdown catch wiped off the board. This week Cooper gets the bottom third Commanders pass defense. Cooper has a 25% target share and getting nearly half the Brown’s air yards. Cooper is also tied for the team lead in red-zone targets and much like Watson, has no better opportunity to produce than week five.

Austin Ekeler ($5.6k DraftKings and $6k Fanduel)

Austin Ekeler is back this week after clearing concussion protocol and Brian Robinson appears very questionable to play with a knee injury. The Commanders feature one of the best offensive lines in football and Ekeler could end up as the feature back versus the Browns. The Brown’s defense is the in bottom 10 of the league in explosive run rate and yards after contact.

Browns vs. Commanders DFS Sit ‘Ems

On the flip side, here are a few of the players we recommend sitting in this one.

Zach Ertz ($3.8k DraftKings and $5k Fanduel)

Zach Ertz is a sit for us this week mostly due to the better DFS options available in this game. Ertz is TE11 but that speaks more so to the weakness of the tight-end position than his fantasy output. The Brown’s defense is top-12 in fantasy points allowed to the tight end and Ertz has zero red zone targets this season.

David Njoku ($5k DraftKings and $5.5k  Fanduel)

Another player who is questionable to play this week. Even if Njoku plays we just do not know what his role or target share will be. His production last season came from Joe Flacco at quarterback and not Watson. Washington’s defense has seen the fewest tight-end targets and is top seven against the position. Njoku is a sit for us with many other solid DFS options.

Total Apex Lock of the Game

DeShaun Watson ($5.3k DraftKings and $6.9k Fanduel)

We used Watson in this spot in our weekly DFS main slate write-up. We are going to step out this week and take some risk in this spot. The Browns get the terrible Commanders pass defense. Watson’s fantasy stats should have been way better last week, as he had an 82-yard touchdown pass called back on a suspect holding call. Watson will go low-owned and this game sets up a potential negative game script for the Browns. We will not get a better matchup for the Cleveland passing offense!

Total Apex Fade of the Game

Brian Robinson ($6.6k DraftKings and $7.7k Fanduel)

We are simply fading Brian Robinson due to the questionable injury tag and a knee injury. We always state in this spot that a fade is not necessarily a sit recommendation, but rather a buyer beware. Robinson is RB17 this season but didn’t practice Wednesday or Thursday and if he plays there is potential injury risk or snap count. Austin Ekeler is the safer DFS recommendation.

Conclusion

The Browns-Commanders game might be a sneaky DFS option game. It has the potential for a back-forth game if Watson can finally break out this week. The Commandeers awful pass defense always provides the potential for a shoot-out and a fantasy points bonanza.
