Denzel Boston 2024 Devy Outlook

From Puyallup, Washington in the class of 2022, Denzel Boston was rated a three-star recruit out of Emerald Ridge High School. In the 247sports Composite rankings, Boston was ranked as the 130th Wide Receiver in the country and the 893rd overall player in the nation. He redshirted his first year on campus after seeing very limited action, only catching two passes for 15 yards in 2022. Again in 2023, Boston saw very limited action, catching five balls for 51 yards.

His lack of playing time in his redshirt freshman season should not be looked at as an indictment of his abilities but as a recognition of Washington’s wide receiver room. With 2024 NFL Draft picks Rome Odunze, Jalen McMillan, and Ja’lynn Polk all in front of him, it was impossible to see much playing time. Add in Germie Bernard (who transferred to Alabama this offseason) and Giles Jackson (who also received limited snaps), the road to playing time was steep.

Boston has the prototypical NFL size for a wide receiver. At 6’4” and 209 pounds, he has the size/speed combination NFL teams look for. His length and strong hands are perfect for 50/50 balls and vertical routes. His ability to high-point the ball and shield it from defenders makes pass breakups difficult.

Boston’s catch radius also allows him to adjust to balls most other wide receivers would not be able to get to. His ability to help out his quarterback on off-target passes is a potential game-changer at the NFL level. His size and strength give him the physical edge over nearly every defensive back and his speed gives him the edge over bigger DBs.

Denzel Boston Devy Outlook

Denzel Boston is getting the opportunity in 2024 to showcase his NFL potential, after not getting any opportunities in 2023. It’s hard to say what Denzel Boston would have done on last year’s national runner-up team, but he is putting together a solid 2024 season thus far. As he continues to rack up opportunities, it’s plausible to think Boston could eventually shoot up draft boards either this season or next.

In my devy rankings, Denzel Boston is ranked as the 16h overall wide receiver and ninth among 2025 draft-eligible WRs. The depth at the wide receiver position is heavy at the top with Luther Burden, Tet McMillan, Evan Stewart, and Emeka Egbuka. However, it gets a little shallower after that top group. With a big season, Boston could find himself among the next group that includes Elic Ayomanor, Antonio Williams, Xavier Restrepo, Tre Harris, and Tory Horton. He could easily choose to wait until the 2026 draft.
