Seahawks vs. Lions DFS Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em| September 30, 2024

The second game of the Monday Night Football doubleheader features the NFC West-leading 3-0 Seattle Seahawks traveling to Detroit to take on the 2-1 Lions. Seattle has taken advantage of the soft early schedule to get off to a fast start. The teams they have beaten are a combined 3-6. Detroit comes off last week’s big-time road win in Arizona. Seattle faces a big test having to not only travel but play in Ford Field.

Here are a few of the players we are heavily leaning on in this game. These players are in a good spot to put together a solid performance and have a favorable matchup.

Amon-Ra St. Brown ($8.3k DraftKings and $9k Fanduel)

Amon-Ra St. Brown comes into week four as the WR16 in fantasy PPR which is a bit underwhelming based on his ADP. However, St. Brown has seen 32 targets which is second only to the current WR1 Malik Nabors and 27 in the last two games. St. Brown is an obvious must-start in redraft, a core player in DFS, and the metrics suggest a monster game is coming. We know Seattle is number one against the pass after three games but that includes games versus quarterbacks Skylar Thompson and rookie Bo Nix in his first start.

D.K. Metcalf ($6.5k DraftKings and $8.1k Fanduel)

D.K. is a monster at wideout, he gets the red zone targets and is a big play waiting to happen. Metcalf is WR9 in fantasy PPR and the books to throw in Detroit to move the ball. Metcalf averages eight targets per game and the Lions are a pass funnel defense. You could make the argument for D.K. as the lock and he makes a great stack option with Smith on the Monday Night main slate.

Seahawks vs. Lions DFS Sit ‘Ems

On the flip side, here are a few players we recommend sitting in this one.

Noah Fant ($3.4k DraftKings and $5k Fanduel)

Tight End is a wasteland in 2024 fantasy and we are not using Noah Fant in DFS week four. Fant is TE12 which is very respectable but the Lions are top 12 against tight end targets allowed. Pay up for Dalton Kincaid in the Monday main DFS slate or dare we say it Mark Andrews as a potential low-owned option.

Zach Charbonnet ($6.2k DraftKings and $7k Fanduel)

It could be Kenneth Walker returning as the Seattle leadback this week, but it is a bad matchup either way. Detroit is number five against the run and top two in explosive runs allowed and yards after contact.

Total Apex Lock of the Game

Geno Smith ($5.8k DraftKings and $7.3k Fanduel)

Geno comes as QB13 in fantasy which is a fringe QB1, but the Detroit secondary is bottom third in the league in passing yards allowed per game. Seattle’s offensive pace is top 10 in neutral pace and neutral passing rate and Smith is third in the NFL in passing yards. The Seahawks are a pass funnel defense due to their being fourth-ranked run defense. We like Geno Smith as our lock in this DFS game.

Total Apex Fade of the Game

David Montgomery ($6.4k DraftKings and $7.4k Fanduel)

Tough to put Montgomery here but Seattle’s rush defense is top 12 in stuff rate, missed tackle rate, and rushing success. In this section we use for players we are not necessarily sitting but tempering expectations. Seattle held fantasy RB3  De’Von Achane to 8.8 fantasy points last week.

Conclusion

The second leg of the Monday Night Doubleheader features some excellent fantasy options for DFS. This game features an implied game total of 46, which is tied for third highest on the week four schedule and both teams have an implied total in the twenties. Keep in mind you can you have the option Monday to play this game on a single slate or the featured slate featuring both games.
