Brad Marchand has had a very historic NHL Career so far, some good and bad. On one hand, he’s the most suspended player in NHL history in terms of individual suspensions. On the other, he’s also the Boston Bruins Captain, replacing Patrice Bergeron who retired after the 2022-23 season.

Brad Marchand has played over 1000 games in the NHL, a historic feat. He also won a Stanley Cup with the Bruins in 2011 and has reached over 400 career goals all with the Bruins. This upcoming season is very important for Brad Marchand, as the 36-year-old will have a lot riding to prove the doubters about his durability.

Brad Marchand’s Key 2024-2025 Season

Brad Marchand is entering a very interesting year in his career, undergoing 3 different offseason surgeries. He had a groin injury, a sports hernia, and a torn tendon in his elbow.

“I had three surgeries this summer, so I didn’t do a lot of training until two weeks ago. I’m just trying to get back into it,” Marchand said “The goal is to try to be ready for camp, or shortly thereafter. I’m just kind of getting back into the swing of things here now. I’m going to hit it all head-on.”

“It might take until the season. It might take a little bit into the season,” he said. “But I’ll treat the next two months like the summer and train and skate the way I normally would during the summer.”

Brad Marchand is also entering the last season of his contract with the Boston Bruins. He signed an 8-year, $49,000,000 contract with the Boston Bruins, including a $24,000,000 signing bonus, $49,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $6,125,000.

In 2024-25, Marchand will earn a base salary of $1,000,000 and a signing bonus of $3,000,000, while carrying a cap hit of $6,125,000. Everyone from the Bruins GM Don Sweeney to Brad Marchand and his teammates wants him to stay a Bruin for life. But for now, no deal is done for the upcoming season.
