Chris Kreider had a spectacular 2023-2024 Season with the New York Rangers, tallying 39 goals and 75 points in 82 games. It was the 2nd most goals in his NHL Career in a season only behind his 52 goals in 21-22.
Kreider was a big part of helping the Rangers make it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they lost in 6 games to the eventual Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers in 6 games. His production didn’t slow down in the Playoffs with 8 goals and 12 points in 18 games.
Chris Kreider’s Career So Far
Chris Kreider was drafted in the 1st round, 19th overall, by the Rangers in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Chris Kreider actually made his NHL Debut in the Playoffs in 2012, replacing a suspended Carl Hagelin for game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. The Rangers would go on to the Eastern Conference Finals, which they’d lose to the New Jersey Devils.
The 2012-13 season was cut short due to the lockout and Kreider spent time in the NHL and AHL that season, tallying 29 games played in the NHL with 2 goals and 3 points.
2013-14 was much better for him where he played 66 games, scoring 17 goals and getting 37 points, but he still spent time in both the AHL and NHL.
In July of 2014, Kreider and the Rangers agreed to a contract extension worth $4.95 million over 2 years.
In 2016, Kreider signed a 4-year, $18.5 million contract extension with the Rangers, avoiding arbitration. That was the same season he tallied a career-high in goals with 28 and 53 points in 75 games.
In 2020, the Rangers signed Kreider to a 7-year, $45.5 million contract extension on February 24th. There were tons of rumors of him being traded, but Kreider has stayed still his entire career so far in New York.
2021-22 Chris Kreider absolutely blew away his career highs with 52 goals in the regular season and 77 points. In 22-23 and 23-24, he’s put up 30+ goals in back-to-back seasons, seemingly aging upwards with better stats in his 30s than his 20s.
Chris Kreider is expected to hit 30+ goals again this season with a solid Rangers team around him once again.
