Justin Jefferson has undoubtedly cemented himself as one of the best wide receivers in the league. He was drafted with the 22nd pick in 2020 by the Minnesota Vikings and hasn’t disappointed. With every passing season, Jefferson has continued to display precise route running, stellar hands, and unbelievable playmaking ability. Coming into just his age-25 season, Jefferson has immense dynasty appeal and will have an intriguing outlook to monitor.
Justin Jefferson’s Historic Career Path
Fresh off of a National Championship with LSU, Justin Jefferson continued to amaze in his rookie season. He hauled in 88 catches for 1400 yards despite only starting in 14 games. Jefferson followed that up with 108 catches, 1616 yards, and his first double-digit touchdown season in 2021.
2022 was a season to remember for Jefferson and the Vikings. A career-high 128 catches and 1809 yards while leading the Vikings to a 13-4 record and bringing home AP Offensive Player of the Year. Although injuries hindered Jefferson in 2023, he somehow still managed to record over 1000 yards in just 10 games. Despite the down season, Jefferson still maintains the highest yards per game in NFL history with 98.3.
Justin Jefferson’s New Contract
In June of 2024, Justin Jefferson made history by setting another record. This time it was his 4 year, $140 million contract extension with $110 million guaranteed. This contract makes Jefferson the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. It shows his commitment to Minnesota and that the Vikings have made Jefferson a top priority.
Sam Darnold is set to be the bridge quarterback in 2024 after signing a one-year deal this off-season. Even with Jefferson being his number-one option, the Vikings still possess a plethora of weapons at his disposal, providing more appeal as a dynasty league star. Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson, and new running back Aaron Jones look to attract defenders to free Jefferson up for opportunities down the field in 2024.
Justin Jefferson’s Dynasty Value
There isn’t a world where having Justin Jefferson on a dynasty team is a bad thing. He continues to produce outrageous statistics in one of the most pass-heavy offenses in the league. Undeterred by a tumultuous 2023 in which the Vikings used four different quarterbacks, Jefferson still piled up over 200 fantasy points in 10 games. Coach Kevin O’Connell’s scheme has had moderate success with average quarterbacks and he will look to make Sam Darnold a success story in 2024 as well.
The future is bright in Minnesota with Justin Jefferson and franchise quarterback J.J. McCarthy ready to make a run in NFC in 2025. McCarthy, like Jefferson, is a National Champion in college and has shown glimpses of stellar play already. A knee injury will temporarily slow McCarthy’s progression, but Jefferson has been impressed with McCarthy. Jefferson has dominated in fantasy and with his infrastructure moving forward, he will continue that trend of being a dynasty staple.
