As we reach the first day of September, that also means we have reached week two of the final major of the tennis season. It seems both the women’s and men’s draws of the US Open are wide open with no clear favorites. While some of the game’s best will not be playing in the second week, this tournament is offering some of the best storylines the sport has seen all year long. With it being the last 16, it truly is anyone’s match.
Men’s US Open DFS Value Picks

Coming off of a superb five set victory on Friday, American Frances Tiafoe at $7,000 is the underdog in this round of 16 matchup against Australian Alexei Popyrin. Popyrin had one of the biggest upsets of the U.S. Open after beating Novak Djokovic in the third round on Friday night. This has been a career changing summer for the Australian as he shocked the tennis world in winning the Masters 1000 event in Montreal.
Tiafoe has also played his best tennis of the season this summer and he made the final at the other Masters 1000 event in Cincinnati. The American got his revenge on Ben Shelton in the previous round and he has the most upside of the four American males left to make a run deep into the tournament so ride with the Big Foe.
In the first top 10 matchup on the men’s side of the tournament, it is a great idea to select the ninth seeded Grigor Dimitrov when he takes on the sixth seed Andrey Rublev. The number nine seed has had a career resurgence at the age of 33 as he is 33-13 this season. Nobody expected the Bulgarian to return to this type of form and he has delivered. Dimitrov has coasted through the Open so far and he continues to go under the radar on how well he is playing.
Rublev on the other hand has had a tougher round to the round of 16 and that included having to come back down from two sets down in the second round. Rublev usually falls apart around this time at the majors and that means both his play and his emotions. Dimitrov won’t show you what he is feeling and with the high level of tennis he is playing, he is a trustworthy pick to pull the upset.
Women’s U.S. Open DFS Value Pick
A great value pick on the women’s side to kickoff the round of 16 is picking an American on American upset. That would be to choose the 13th seeded Emma Navarro in her match against the defending champion Coco Gauff. The third seed has had a rough season post Wimbledon and she hasn’t played the cleanest of tennis in her first three rounds of the tournament.
The loss that sent Gauff down this recent struggle was a straight set defeat to Navarro at Wimbledon. Navarro might be one of the least flashiest and emotive of the top 20 players in the world but her game speaks for herself. The 13 seed won’t be phased by the big match while Gauff has shown some vulnerabilities mentally over the last two months. This is great value for a upset to shake up the women’s draw.
