Devin Singletary Dynasty Outlook 2024

Devin Singletary was drafted in the third round of the 2019 NFL draft 74th overall by the Buffalo Bills. Singletary, while undersized for a typical NFL running back, wowed NFL scouts with the toughness and production while at Florida Atlantic University.

Under the Lane Kiffin offense at FAU, Singletary rushed for over 1000 yards in each of his three seasons in college, racking up a total of 4,289 yards and 66 touchdowns on the ground. His best season came his sophomore year in 2017 when he rushed for 1,920 yards and 32 touchdowns.

While in Buffalo Singletary never matched his production from college, with his best season coming in 2021 with 870 yards and 7 touchdowns. He often split time with James Cook in the backfield which hindered his production.

The bright side of Singletary not being the workhorse back in Buffalo is that he has remained relatively healthy throughout his career and has appeared in at least 16 games in every season since his rookie campaign in 2019 when he appeared in 12 games.

Singletary Houston Texans 2023 Production

In 2023 Singletary signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans to share the backfield with starter Dameon Pierce. Due to an injury to Pierce, Singletary was the starter for the Texans from week 10 for the rest of the season helping lead the Texans to a playoff berth.

Singletary finished the season with 898 yards and 4 touchdowns finishing as RB9 in fantasy from week 10 on. Luckily for Singletary, he was able to prove he could handle a starting workload heading into free agency in 2024.

New Guy in the Backfield

In March of 2024, Singletary signed a three-year $16.5 million deal with the New York Giants. Long-time Giants starting running back Saquon Barkley left in free agency leaving the job up for grabs and by all indications, the job is for Singletary to lose.

Singletary is reunited with now-head coach Brian Daboll who was the offensive coordinator for Singletary during his time in Buffalo. Daboll utilizes a run-heavy offense and with quarterback Daniel Jones coming off a torn ACL, Singletary should have plenty of opportunity.

Dynasty Outlook Going Forward

Singletary’s dynasty value has never been higher as it seems he finally has a starting job to himself with no immediate threat to steal his touches. Going into the first year of a three-year deal with the Giants that will have him signed through his age-29 season, Singletary finally has a chance to prove himself. If he can replicate what he did in college the last time he had a backfield to himself, then he has a chance to be a top-tier RB option for your dynasty team for the next couple of years.

If you have Singletary in a dynasty league then you hold onto him unless someone is willing to overpay in a big way. This is the exact season that you drafted or traded for him for. Unless you have a lot of depth at the position he should be in your starting lineup every week until he he proves he shouldn’t be due to poor performance.

The only threat to his dynasty value right now is if the Giants underperform as a team and the front office wants to bring in a new coaching staff who wants to bring in their own players. Until then Singletary should be a solid RB2 or flex option for your team if healthy.
