The time to grind is now. If you are in striking distance in your fantasy league, you must keep your foot on the gas pedal over the final seven weeks of the season. While others may have turned their attention to fantasy football, there are plenty of points to be gained in the standings.
If you’ve been following along and heeding my advice, hopefully, you were rewarded with the absolute gem that Bowden Francis twirled in his victory over the Cubs.
Fantasy Impact Addition:
Bryan Sammons
Another recommendation for you deep leaguers out there. Sammons doesn’t appear on most two-start recommendations around the industry, as he isn’t working as a starting pitcher for the Tigers – he’s being used as a bulk reliever.
The 29-year-old Southpaw has been awfully impressive in his first four appearances, registering a 3.38 ERA, a minuscule 0.70 WHIP, and a 13/5 K/BB ratio across 18 2/3 innings. He’s set to take on the Cubs in Chicago on Tuesday (Javier Assad) and then the White Sox in Chicago on Sunday (Jonathan Cannon).
With the way that the Tigers have been playing lately, there’s a decent shot that he will earn at least one victory during the week and should be good for 8+ strikeouts and strong ratios over his two outings.
He’s a player that can be scooped up for nothing in almost all formats and should provide sneaky under-the-radar production for your fantasy squad in Week 21. He’s literally zero percent rostered in Yahoo fantasy leagues at the moment. Zero percent.
Like most of my recommendations, I’ll be riding with the group on this one as I snagged Sammons through FAAB for $2 (unopposed) in my NFBC Main Event league on Sunday night and will be absolutely rolling him out for his two outings this week.
Fantasy Impact Addition:
David Peralta
Another unlikely hero that I was looking at this week is David Peralta. The 37-year-old outfielder has had a bit of a resurgence in the Padres’ outfield over the past couple of weeks, hitting .395 (15-for-38) with four homers, 10 RBI, and 10 runs scored over the last 14 days.
Like the recommendation of Andrew Benintendi yesterday, Peralta is not going to continue at this pace. That doesn’t mean that he can’t help your fantasy squads on an interim basis though. He hits in a strong Padres’ lineup and is lined up for seven games in the upcoming week – including four right-handers during the front half. In 15-team formats or deeper 12-team leagues that utilize five outfielders, he’s worthy of starting while he’s hitting like this and playing every night.
