Marvin Harrison Jr 2024 Fantasy Outlook

Marvin Harrison Jr

Marvin Harrison Jr, son of legendary Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison, is one of the most anticipated wide receiver prospects that we have had in this league in a long time.  The former Ohio State star got drafted by the Arizona Cardinals with the fourth pick in the 2024 draft giving Kyler Murray another chance with a tall receiver once again like the combination he had with DeAndre Hopkins.

Maserati Marv is going to light up the league this season in his rookie year because of the high target volume that he should receive in 2024 as the rest of the wide receiver room is a little bit on the lackluster side around him. Let us look at his Ohio State production in 2023 to gauge why he was the best-skilled position player in the 2024 draft.

Marvin Harrison Jr 2023 Production

Marvin Harrison Jr had 67 catches for 1,211 yards with 14 touchdown receptions in his final year at Ohio State in 2023. He had a three touchdown performance against Michigan State last season. He is the only Ohio State receiver in program history to have two 1,000 yard seasons.

I think his college production shows that he can be that level of talent in the NFL especially if he continues to show his work ethic as a player and the work ethic that his dad had in his NFL career as well. Let’s look at the projections of the 2024 season.

Fantasy Pros highlighted the following analytical numbers to highlight how good Harrison Jr was at Ohio State. In the last two years of college, he ranked fifth and seventh in YPRR and third and sixth in PFF receiving grades. These numbers should translate in the NFL because of his elite route running and sheer ability to track the ball in the air.

Marvin Harrison Jr’s 2024 Projections

ESPN is projecting Marvin Harrison Jr to be in the top 11 receivers in his first year in the league with the following stat line, 83 receptions for 1,120 yards and six touchdowns for 228.45 fantasy points in 2024. ESPN also shared my sentiments that Kyler Murray can get Marvin easily to the top fifteen WRs in the fantasy threshold especially if Murray stays healthy.  Harrison Jr will easily get double digit targets per game in 2024 because of what I said earlier the wide receiving talent around him.

Fantasy Pros has Marvin Harrison Jr with an ECR rating of WR9 in this year’s fantasy with the 25th easiest strength of schedule for him. Fantasy Pros stat line projection for Maserati Marv is 88 receptions for 1,166 yards and seven touchdowns for 243 fantasy points. Fantasy Pros also values Harrison Jr. as a high impact, and having a consistent target share throughout the season.

Harrison Jr will be electrifying in year 1 from the word go, the chemistry between him and Murray is going to be the main thing that is going to determine the success of Marvin Harrison Jr himself and his owners. He’s going to perform no matter what but if Kyler Murray can’t get the job done enough the Arizona Cardinals offense is going to flat line and so is the Harrison Jr top ten fantasy season in his rookie year.

Final Thoughts

Harrison Jr is by far the best rookie option in fantasy regardless of position including the quarterbacks, which is saying something, normally there is one rookie that will stand out, and this year will be Marvin Harrison Jr. Harrison Jr should be drafted around the late second early, early third round of drafts because of the unpredictability factor of rookies starting their careers. I personally am thinking about drafting him if I have a mid second round pick or if I have the back-to-back picks to end the first round into the second round because he is that good of a talent at WR.
