Brian Robinson Jr. 2024 Fantasy Outlook

Brian Robinson Jr.

Brian Robinson Jr. can’t be stopped. The former Alabama running back was literally shot in the right leg before his rookie year started and somehow came back and balled out for the team later in the season. He’s like 50 Cent but athletic!

The botched robbery could have stopped his career before it started, but it was just another obstacle to overcome for Brian Robinson Jr. He was already dominating training camp and looked like the Commander’s best back before the Offield incident occurred. Then it all stopped suddenly after he was shot not just once, but twice by a would-be burglar.

But somehow, Brian Robinson Jr. underwent surgery and recovered in an astonishingly quick fashion. He got very lucky though, as the bullet that struck his knee didn’t hit any bones or ligaments. The real issue that he had to deal with was the excruciating pain of it all. But Brian Robinson Jr. is way tougher than I am and somehow, he was back on the field just 6 weeks later and would go on to have a great rookie year. It was a truly remarkable feat for someone dealing with such a serious injury.

He rushed for 797 yards and 2 touchdowns in 12 games his rookie year, showing everything the Commanders hoped he would. He entered last season fully healthy and entrenched as the lead back in former offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy’s system, but the team didn’t perform as hoped. Brian Robinson Jr. finished the year with just 733 yards and 5 touchdowns, which was solid if not spectacular.

Now, the situation has been improved with a new coach, offensive coordinator, and a lot of new teammates who should open the field for Brian Robinson Jr. Most importantly, the team drafted a franchise quarterback in Jayden Daniels, whose own rushing ability means a team can’t focus solely on Brian Robinson Jr. in the backfield.

New Offensive Coordinator Kliff Kingsbury brings an experienced and innovative mind to the arena, while Head Coach Dan Quinn provides a tough new attitude for the team. Fellow running back Austin Ekelar may seem like he will take away from Brian Robinson Jr. but he’s 29 and coming off an injury-prone season. He’s there to support Robinson, not limit his fantasy appeal.

In fact, having Austin Ekelar is going to help keep Brian Robinson Jr. healthy and strong all season. Ekelar will also be a great source of knowledge for Robinson to lean on during the year, which will only help the younger back continue to grow.

How will Brian Robinson Jr. do in 2024?

The biggest upgrade for Brian Robinson Jr. has to be on the offensive line. New center Tyler Biadasz is a Pro-Bowler who came over from the Cowboys and will open lanes all year long. The Commanders resigned Tackle Cornelius Lucas and also drafted Brandon Coleman in the 3rd round, giving the team some quality offensive line depth.

Brian Robinson Jr. also has a lot of offensive talent around him too, which will keep defenses honest. Wide Receiver Terry McLaurin is a superstar on the rise, while new tight end Zach Ertz is a reliable veteran who still has a lot to give. If Jahan Dotson can finally live up to his first-round billing, then the sky is the limit for Brian Robinson Jr. and the Commanders.

Final Thoughts

Brian Robinson Jr. is truly one of a kind. After overcoming a bullet in the leg, he’s focused now on growing as a football player. His positive attitude and drive have left him in a great position to succeed. Now all that’s left is giving him the ball and letting him rock it!
