After a dismal 3-14 season in 2023 for the Patriots. All eyes are now on veteran QB Jacoby Brissett to carry the team while the young Drake Maye eases into the starting QB role. In case you´re considering adding this underrated player to your fantasy roster, we´ve compiled our prediction on how he might do this year.
Even though Jacoby Brissett has been a bit of a journeyman, his humble beginning goes back to the Patriots when Tom Brady was suspended due to the “deflate-gate scandal” and Garoppolo got injured against the Dolphins way back when, Brissett got his first NFL start, destroying the Houston Texans in a 27-0 game.
Jacoby Brissett is no stranger to New England, however, there is a new sheriff in town with Jerod Mayo in as HC. The fact that Belichick isnñt there anymore might mean a 180-degree shift in offense, and there could be some questions as to whether Jacoby Brissett could be a good fit.
Jacoby Brissett is known for his poise and resilience as a quarterback. He has a strong, accurate arm and can make deep throws with confidence. His style is characterized by a steady, methodical, and patient approach to the game. Brissett mostly focuses on making smart decisions and having good game management.
Jacoby Brissett is also quite efficient in throwing short to intermediate passes and shows good mobility in the pocket, often extending plays with his legs. He’s reliable in reading defenses and exhibits a calm demeanor under pressure, though he may struggle with consistency and long-range accuracy at times. Overall, Brissett is a dependable, if not spectacular, playmaker.
Regarding his style of play, the real question is how he will fit into the New England Patriots offense, especially when it is clear that the offensive unit is not being tailored for him, but for Drake Maye.
Jacoby Brissett´s 2022 and 2023 performance

According to ProFootball reference, Jacoby Brissett almost had no game-time activity during the 2023 season. Playing in just 3 games for the Washington Commanders, he threw 23 attempts for 18 completions (78%), 224 yards, 3 TD´s and 0 INT´s. Though not a lot of him was seen these stats can back up the statement that if not consistent he is at least a reliable backup who can keep a team going.
In the 2022 season, Brissett played for the Cleveland Browns. Here, he enjoyed 11 games as a starter and threw 369 attempts of which 236 passes were completed (64%). Additionally, he threw for 12 TDs and 6 INTs, all while leading the browns to a 4-7 record as a starter. This confirms that for longer time stretches, Brissett´s rather conservative playmaking might not help the Patriots at all.
According to FantasyPros, Jacoby Brissett is projected to throw the ball only 174 times, completing 112 passes for the 2024 season. In addition, he is projected to pass for 5.5 TDs and throw 3.7 INTs, all for a total of 65 points.
Final Thoughts
Through our eyes, Jacoby Brissett isn´t the type of player who will enjoy consistent 300-yard games. His playing style and history portray him as a responsible, risk-averse thrower, who´ll probably lead the Patriots through stability instead of massive production.
The only factor that might make him an interesting choice for your fantasy team, and an underrated one at that, will the New England´s offensive concept as a whole. Should the Patriots come into the season with a refreshing offensive scheme that plays to Brisstet´s strengths, he might give a surprise.
Overall, our recommendation would be to take the risk and draft him, but only in the late rounds of the draft and as a reserve. Be sure to pick him only when the Patriots play teams with poor defenses.
