3 Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Pickups | 05 February 2024

Ayo Dosunmu is on the list of fantasy basketball waiver wire pickups for the week of February 5, 2024

The fantasy basketball season is approaching the home stretch! After the All-Star break, the playoff push begins. Picking up players late in the season can be the difference between winning and losing. Here are three fantasy basketball waiver wire pickups for this week.

Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Pickup #1: Ayo Dosunmu

The Chicago Bulls shooting guard is a great fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup for this week. Zach LaVine is likely done for the season with a foot injury. His minutes have to go somewhere. Dosunmu is a nice blend of offense and defense. In the past five games, he has averaged 16.8 points, much higher than his 9.8 season average.

Getting Dosunmu now is imperative. His value will skyrocket if Alex Caruso is dealt before the trade deadline. More minutes will mean more opportunities to fill the stat sheet. His scoring isn’t the only part of his game. He averages a block a game in the last five and consistently gets in passing lanes. Dosunmu will win some leagues this year. Get him before it is too late.

Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Pickup #2: Aaron Nesmith

The Indiana Pacers dealt Bruce Brown to pick up Pascal Siakam. Nesmith was the beneficiary of that move and should be on your fantasy basketball waiver wire radar. In the last five games, he averaged 17.4 points and 7.4 rebounds. Nesmith has added to his scoring repertoire, making him more viable on the offensive end.

The question for Nesmith will be whether he can keep this up once Tyrese Haliburton is back in the lineup. Haliburton is the engine of the offense. When he is on the floor, he is the one who brings the ball up and facilitates the offense. Will this cut into Nesmith’s production? Maybe, but it is worth the risk.

Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Pickup #3: Scoot Henderson

This fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup is only for teams with a roster spot to give up. Unlike the other two players in this article, we haven’t seen a huge spike in production in the past five games. Picking up Henderson is a long-term investment. If Portland decides to trade away Malcolm Brogden and other veterans, Henderson’s minutes will go up.

The third overall pick from this year’s draft has had some scoring woes during his rookie season. However, he has shown steady improvement, and if his minutes were to increase, the opportunities for playmaking and scoring would go up. If you’ve got a roster spot doing nothing, Henderson could be a great pickup.

The waiver wire is often about catching the right player at the right time. These players are peaking or have the potential to peak in the next few weeks. Don’t let the opportunity to get them on your team pass you by!
