Zack Baun had a star-making performance for the Philadelphia Eagles during their Super Bowl Run in 2024. He was a finalist for the 2024 AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year award and arguably was robbed of the award on some fronts. Yes, Patrick Surtain II did deserve the award as well, but for Baun to finish Fifth is a Crime! Also, Baun earned First Team Defense All-Pro at Linebacker this past year for the Eagles and was an integral part of that Eagles defense turnaround from 2023 to 2024. Here’s Zack Baun’s IDP outlook for the 2025 season.
Zack Baun’s 2024 Production
Zack Baun had 151 total tackles, 11 TFLs, five quarterback hits, and one interception in 2024 for the Eagles, as PFF ranked Baun as the best linebacker last season. He finished second in IDP fantasy rankings via Fantasy Pros with an average of 16.1 PPGs on Fantasy Pros IDP scoring. He had an astronomical 15.7% tackle rate, which was well above the average for league average of 12.7%. Baun is one of those guys that we thought of as a special-teams player when he was signed last March, and now he is a staple at the Linebacker position for years to come for the Eagles.
Zack Baun’s 2025 Projections
Zack is the ECR #2 LB according to Fantasy Pros, with the following stat line projection: 156.6 tackles, 2.8 sacks, 1.1 interceptions, 2.6 fumble recoveries, 0.2 defensive touchdowns for a total fantasy point projection of 336.2 points. Meanwhile, ESPN’s Mike Clay had him as his top linebacker on his FF rankings with the following stat line projections for the Wisconsin product: 157 total tackles, 11 TFLs, 2.8 sacks, 1.1 interceptions, and 4.1 forced fumbles for a Fantasy Points Projection of 262.9 for 2025.
Looking a those numbers, he is going to be a desired pick for IDP, and I would think he would be far and away the best off-ball linebacker option for IDP in 2025 after a great 2024 under Vic Fangio.
Final Thoughts
Zack Baun is one of those Eagles defenders, individually in fantasy, is going to be productive for a very productive unit overall, as they are far and away still one of the best defenses, if not the best defense, heading into 2025. The former Badger is going to continue to be a great leader for this Eagles defense alongside Reed Blankenship and Quinyon Mitchell. Look for the Eagles’ defense to be at the very top of the league thanks to him.
