Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions Start Em’ Sit Em’ Week 18 DFS

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown vikings

Although very few games matter in terms of the playoff picture in Week 18, the matchup between the Vikings and Lions happens to matter a lot. The winner gets a bye in the playoffs, while the loser gets no home games throughout the playoffs. This is a great game to target for DFS since both teams are going to put forth all their effort. It also happens to feature two of the best offenses in football, which is always nice for DFS too.

Sam Darnold (Draft Kings Price 6.5K, FanDuel Price 8.1K)

This is arguably the best time to play Darnold regardless of his price. He will be facing a depleted Lions defense, one that quarterbacks have carved up previously (like Josh Allen). The Lions will also be scoring back, most likely, so Darnold will have to throw throughout the game to keep a lead. All these ingredients might result in a 300+ yard game with multiple touchdowns.

Jordan Addison (Draft Kings Price 6.4K, FanDuel Price 7.1K)

Just because Justin Jefferson is a generational wide receiver doesn’t mean Addison can’t get his numbers too. If Darnold is going to air the ball out like he is set up to do against this Lions’ defense, Addison will naturally get some of that yardage and maybe find the endzone as well.

Jahmyr Gibbs (Draft Kings Price 8.7K, FanDuel Price 8.8K)

There really isn’t a formula for beating the Minnesota Vikings’ defense this season: they’re just that good. One thing that will help Jared Goff and company, however, is running the football. Combine that with the fact that David Montgomery is still hurt, and Sonic is set up for a big game. The Lions might try to give Jahmyr Gibbs the ball early to calm down that vicious pass rush from the Vikings.

Vikings at Lions Sit Em’

Aaron Jones (Draft Kings Price 6.4K, FanDuel Price 7.3K)

There are a couple of things going against Jones in this game. First of all, he is coming off of an injury, so he might be on a limited snap count. Jones has regressed in the past couple of games, with a high of 86 yards in the past five outings. Assuming this game is going to be close, Darnold will also have to throw to maintain a lead. Jones is still a great running back, but the situation isn’t there for him to pop off.

Sam LaPorta (Draft Kings Price 4.7K, FanDuel Price 6.1K)

LaPorta’s 111-yard game against the Bills has been a shining spot in what otherwise is a fairly basic stat sheet. He still is a big red zone threat, but seeing as he is going up against Minnesota, there are better tight ends around the league going up against weaker defenses. It’s better to put faith in those other tight ends than praying LaPorta finds the endzone against Minnesota.

Tim Patrick (Draft Kings Price 4.2K, FanDuel Price 5.4K)

Patrick has been a fairly touchdown-reliant player this season in terms of fantasy. It’s going to be tough for him to score a touchdown on this Minnesota defense, especially when Amon Ra St. Brown will be demanding most of the targets. Patrick will get a couple of catches in this game, but it won’t be near what DFS players are going to need to win this week.

Vikings at Lions Lock

Justin Jefferson (Draft Kings Price 8.4K, FanDuel Price 9.5K)

Jefferson might be set up to have a field day here. Lions have a hurt defense, Darnold will be slinging the ball, and in general, Jefferson is one of the top three wide receivers in the league. If any DFS players have enough money and they want guaranteed production from their wide receiver, look no further than Justin Jefferson.

Vikings at Lions Fade

Cam Akers (Draft Kings Price 5.4K, FanDuel Price 6K)

Just because Aaron Jones might be on a pitch count doesn’t mean Cam Akers is a strong start. He might get a decent amount of carries, especially if Minnesota has the lead late. Jones is still the main running back in Minnesota, though, and Akers can’t have a fantasy-relevant game unless he breaks free for a touchdown.
