Trey Palmer 2024 Fantasy Outlook

Trey Palmer

Trey Palmer is entering his second season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2024. Palmer had a good season for the Buccaneers as a rookie where he had limited opportunities but took advantage of the opportunities he did have last season.

This season should be a more elevated role for Palmer as the WR3 of the squad. However, the fantasy upside will still be on the lower side because of a new offensive system thanks to a new offensive coordinator due to the departure of Dave Canales and also more competition for the role.

Trey Palmer had 39 receptions for 385 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2023. Fantasy Pros had Palmer as the WR71 after his rookie season in fantasy. Palmer did have an impressive outing against the Philadelphia Eagles in the playoff game showcasing his speed on his long touchdown in that game.

His speed is interesting for that WR3 spot for quarterback Baker Mayfield to throw the ball down the field in 2024. Here is a look at the 2024 projections for Trey Palmer and his potential fantasy ceiling in 2024.

Trey Palmer 2024 Projections

ESPN currently has Trey Palmer as the WR88 in 2024 fantasy with a projection of 35 receptions for 439 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2024 for a total of 97.45 fantasy points on ESPN games. The lower projection is because of the newly touted draft pick Jalen McMillian from the University of Washington.

Palmer is one of those guys who could fall to being a gadget player in 2024 because of the use of a draft pick at the same position. Palmer should have more opportunities early on until McMilian learns the offense a little bit more but a preseason injury might also hurt Palmer.

Meanwhile, Fantasy Pros has the worst projection for Palmer as he is WR100 on their ECR rating with the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay has the 14th easiest schedule for receivers this season according to them.

The stat line projection for Palmer is 79 fantasy points with 29 receptions for 343 and 2 touchdowns, behind veterans Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. These projections are showing that they are high on McMillan in 2024 getting those WR3 snaps more so than Palmer.

Final Thoughts

Trey Palmer could have a good productive season in his role, but the role is probably going to be diminished again thanks to McMillian. Unless an injury happens you won’t see Palmer make that much of a splash as it was thought to be after the 2023 season now.

Palmer might be a waiver pick-up instead of somebody worth drafting in the late rounds of drafts now when people were keeping an eye on him because of the emergence in that wild card game against Philadelphia last year.
