It seems as though fans have been waiting for the Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, to start looking the way he did at Clemson for quite a while.
Going into his fourth year, though, his NFL performance still hasn’t lived up to the promise he had out of college. That makes it difficult for fantasy football fans to gauge how he is going to perform, and therefore, where to take him in the draft.
Trevor Lawrence 2024 Stats and Fantasy Production
2024 was a fairly rough year for Lawrence. He is at the bottom of most of the quarterback stats. Lawrence failed to reach the top 25 in touchdowns or yards. He threw 11 touchdowns throughout the season as well as seven interceptions, which is pretty abysmal when compared to guys like Joe Burrow and Josh Allen.
Looking at his fantasy points, Lawrence had a low ceiling and a low floor last year, which is a pretty brutal combination. He only scored above 20 points twice last year, having a high of 23 points in Week 8. He also had a low 9.2 point showing against Buffalo and only scored 0.4 points before his injury in Week 13.
Trevor Lawrence 2025 Fantasy Outlook
It’s hard to be optimistic about Trevor Lawrence this year because, unfortunately, his team got worse. While the Jaguars kept Brian Thomas Jr. in the offseason, they lost Christian Kirk. Jacksonville will have to hope that rookie Travis Hunter can have a breakout season, or teams will just be doubling Thomas Jr. when Lawrence drops back to pass.
The other issue that comes with drafting Lawrence is that all the other quarterbacks in his tier are coming into better situations. Fantasy Pros has Lawrence ranked at number 21 out of all the quarterbacks available, just behind Jordan Love and J.J. McCarthy, both of whom could make great QB2s in bigger drafts. Ranked below Lawrence are these quarterbacks:
–Tua Tagovailoa, who will still be throwing to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle
–Bryce Young, who just added Tetairoa McMillan to his receiving corps, which already had Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette
-Michael Penix Jr., who had a strong end to last season with Drake London and Darnell Mooney
-Geno Smith, the new addition to the Las Vegas Raiders, who have young talent like Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty
-Cam Ward, the first pick of the draft, who is coming off an amazing season at Miami
In a small draft, nobody would need to pick up any of these players. When it’s late in a big draft, though, and those quarterbacks are on the board, is it really necessary to take Lawrence? All of those other quarterbacks have a bigger upside than Lawrence does this season. Therefore, it’s probably not a good idea to draft Trevor Lawrence in 2025. If the Jaguars make some moves during the season, then Lawrence can be streamed off waivers.
