In the NBA, last week was the start of the journey to the NBA Cup and was ELECTRIC. We saw multiple star performances and great moments throughout the week, plus the return of Klay Thompson to Golden State for the first time as a Maverick. Fantasy scoreboards this week were lighting up like a Christmas tree this weekend as we are officially a week away from Thanksgiving. Here’s a look at the top storylines from the week.
“Swipa” and “Spida” Go OFF!
De’Aaron Fox and Donovan Mitchell have been excellent fantasy value all season long but last week especially, they were flawless for fantasy owners. Fox had a 60-point game against the Timberwolves last week and followed it up with a 49-point game the next night against Utah. Fox against Minnesota also had 3 steals, 7 assists, 3 rebounds, and a block so he ended up with 82.25 fantasy points. Fox also had a 58.0 fantasy point game as well last week.
Meanwhile, Mitchell is still leading the Cavaliers to an undefeated start thus far. He had a rest day on Sunday and still managed to have 182 FANTASY POINTS last week with three games over 60.5 fantasy points. Mitchell finally has found his form in Kenny Atkinson’s system, and even though he’s been efficient, last week showed that Mitchell can be that fantasy stud anytime fantasy owners need him to be.
Lebron James is still King James
Lebron James had 4 straight triple-doubles that spanned the end of the previous week and the first two games of last week with his 40th birthday about a month away. Lebron is turning back the time this season and has had his most efficient seasons. Is this the greatest season by a 40-year-old ever? So far I would say yes, as Lebron has been one of those guys over the years that consistently defeats Father Time left and right so this isn’t surprising. Lebron will continue to be a great fantasy option for the rest of the season barring health.
Give credit to new Lakers coach JJ Redick for unlocking Lebron James even more with the new unique sets. Also, give credit to Anthony Davis for continuing his momentum from last season and the Olympics being the true Alpha of that team. But Lebron is one of the greatest basketball minds of all time so he will continue to find success no matter what.
Giannis Antetokounmpo 97.5 Fantasy Point Night
On Wednesday last week against the Detroit Pistons, Giannis Antetokounmpo had a 97.5 fantasy point night with 59 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals. The Bucks have been struggling this season as a team, but the Greek Freak has been a constant fantasy option, averaging over 61.0 fantasy points per game this season. His 97.5-point performance was RIDICULOUS! I almost personally lost my basketball matchup because of that performance alone, but luckily, I have Donovan Mitchell and SGA on my team.
But all kidding aside, Giannis has the potential to top that performance this season, given Damian Lillard’s struggles to stay healthy. So we shall see if Antetokounmpo will turn the Bucks’ season around this NBA season.
