The Top 3 WNBA Guards to Have for the Remainder of 2024 Fantasy

WNBA

The WNBA has been at an all-time high in 2024 as the game has become more popularized because of this rookie class that has come in and taken the league by storm. The WNBA has some electric guards in the league now and guard play is one of the most important things to have when it comes to fantasy because of the multiple stats they can achieve in a game. Here are the top 3 to have for this stretch run of the fantasy season.

Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever, $12,500 Value Draft Kings

Caitlin Clark is the number one choice to have in your lineups for the playoffs if you have her because her team is fighting for a playoff spot for the first time since 2016. The former Iowa Hawkeye superstar is averaging 17.8 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game, 8.3 assists per game, and 1.4 steals per game so far in her rookie season in the WNBA.

ESPN currently has Clark as the second-best guard on the season behind Dallas Wings Star Arike Ogunbowale as of August 13th. Clark has the potential to soar up to the number 1 spot of guards as the Fever has one of the easiest remaining schedules of all of the teams in the W in the stretch heading into the Playoffs. The duo of Clark and Aliyah Boston right now is gelling together more than ever at the moment, which is causing Clark’s numbers to elevate.

In Clark’s first two games back from the Olympic Break she’s averaged 26 points per game, 5 rebounds per game, 9.5 assists per game, and 0.5 a steal in the two games which is one of the top performers up to this point coming out of the break. If Clark keeps up this production during the back stretch she’ll be the best guard to have not only for fantasy redraft leagues but daily DFS lineups as well for the second half of the season.

Arike Ogunbowale, Dallas Wings, $10,300 Draft Kings Value

Arike Ogunbowale is looking to continue her strong season especially after being snubbed from the Olympic team in 2024. The former Notre Dame Fighting Irish alum is currently averaging 22.2 points per game, 4.7 rebounds per game, 5.1 assists per game, and 2.7 steals per game for the Dallas Wings this season. ESPN currently has Ogunbowale as the third overall best player in the league behind the obvious two of Aja Wilson and Breanna Stewart.

Having this close battle between Ogunbowale and Clark for the one and two spots for my picks to have strong conclusions to their seasons and dominate the WNBA fantasy-wise at the guard spot is a hard choice, but Clark fighting for a playoff spot edges Ogunbowale just barely for me, as well Clark having to do a lot more consistently for her team as a facilitator, as well as a scorer for her team. Ogunbowale will continue to be one of the league’s best scorers down the stretch, it’s just a matter of what her other stats are going to look like is what is going to look like for consistent numbers in fantasy.

Sabrina Ionescu, New York Liberty, $10,800 Draft Kings value

Sabrina Ionescu is going to continue to be one of the strong plays in fantasy for the most part, but with the Liberty already clinching a playoff spot is probably going to hurt some of those consistent minutes as they look towards the playoffs. Ionescu, a former Oregon Duck, is averaging 19.9 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, 6.0 assists per game, and 1.0 steals per game so far in the 2024 WNBA season.

The duo of Ionescu and Breanna Stewart has been the reason the Liberty has been by far the best team in 2024 to this point, and Ionescu is just getting better and better as the games have gone on. Coming off a strong Olympics, Ionescu in the two games the Liberty has had coming off the break has averaged 20.5 points per game, 5 rebounds per game, 4.5 assists per game, and 1.0 steals per game. Ionescu will be a strong play for either method of Redraft or DFS the rest of the way as she is currently the 3 rating guard in fantasy according to ESPN behind Clark and Ogunbowale.

Final Thoughts

These three players all have elite abilities on the court and will provide opportunities to not only win your redraft leagues but also make you some money on the DFS scene as well in this stretch run in the 2024 season. I love all three players’ games on the court, especially Clark’s game as she should be the favorite to win the Rookie of the Year award. Looking forward to the stretch run of the WNBA season as a whole but it’ll be exciting to watch these three guards play every single night.
