The top three hitter pickups are going to be crucial as we are entering into week three for most fantasy leagues, and with that comes some injuries to players as well as cold starts. But it also means some unexpected and unpredictable hot starts from some unsuspecting players. Here, we will dive into the top three hitter pickups heading into the next week of the fantasy season.
Top 3 Hitter Pickups
1. Geraldo Perdomo
The shortstop for the Arizona Diamondbacks is off to a blazing start with a .333 average as well as two homeruns and 13 RBIs, as of the writing of this article. The most impressive thing about Geraldo Perdomo is the fact that, according to the Fantrax fantasy sports site, he is only owned by 37% of league managers. He is the perfect addition to a team looking to make up some points from some disappointing starts from Yainer Diaz or injuries to other Middle infielders like Gleyber Torres.
With the Arizona Diamondbacks off to a scorching start, Perdomo should get regular looks and consistent at-bats to continue his hot start to the season. He may not have the skills floor to support the start that he is off to, but Perdomo can definitely add support to any injuries in the lineup or help in the Batting average categories for those in ROTO. Just don’t look for him to be a consistent piece as the season goes on. But at the moment, he will provide a helping hand as he rides his hot start.
2. Wilmer Flores
The San Franscisco Giants are quietly doing a fantastic job in the National League West. Much inpart to Wilmer Flores. The 1b/2b is absolutely crushing. With five home runs as of the writing of this article, he is outpacing first-round draft picks like Matt Olson and Bobby Witt Jr. What makes Flores even better is the fact that currently, he is owned by 11% of all league managers. This means he is very likely to be available in your leagues at this very moment. If you need some pop in the lineup, then he might be a short-term fix.
It would be wise to try and ride the hot streak and maybe sell to a desperate team, if you can, for the rising hitter for the Giants. Depending upon your league rules and regulations, Flores will be Corner Infield eligible, Middle Infield eligible, and Firstbase and second base eligible. He is an awesome plug-and-play for the foreseeable future. As his skills have a good support level, he should be a consistent bat in your lineups. Flores can also be a great piece to add in a trade package to upgrade for a slumping hitter like Rafael Devers.
3. Kyren Paris
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim may have found a hidden gem in hitter Kyren Paris. With only 28 at-bats at the time of this writing, He has five home runs, .393 average, 1.000 OBP, 11 hits, 12 runs, eight RBIs, and four stolen bases. Paris is a big part of why the Los Angeles Angels are off to as hot of a start as they are. No one had this young man in their draft sites to do as well as he is doing. And even with his current stats, according to Fantrax. He is owned by only 1% of Fantasy Baseball managers. Go and grab him ASAP.
Due to the hottest of hot starts, we have to be honest. The Skills do not support this level of eliteness for the rest of the season. But there is absolutely no harm in riding the wave as long as it lasts. Or trying to sell high while the high is sky-high. Just understand the risk reward with Paris. He is providing great returns for owners currently, but you have to be cautious that this statistically will not last as long as you think it will. But we love that he is crushing and creating such a spark in the Los Angeles Angels Lineup.
Wrap Up on MLB Fantasy Hitters for Week 3
This is not an exhaustive list by any means, but these top three hitter pickups are most likely available in your leagues and will provide an instant bump in your lineups day in and day out. But a word of caution to this tale. The skills and stats are not supporting one another. There is a statistical likelihood that these three hitters will eventually come down to their skill level. But when that will occur, no one knows. For now, ride the hot hands. Wishing you all the best of luck in your Fantasy endeavours.
