Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Los Angeles Lakers Game 5 DFS Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em| April 30

timberwolves lakers

The Timberwolves are looking to close this series out on Wednesday in five games in Los Angeles against the Lakers, as Anthony Edwards’ 43 points, nine rebounds, and six assists performance in Game 4 was an elite DFS play on Sunday Afternoon, as I laid out in my last DFS article the other day.

Edwards, Lebron James, and Luka Doncic are the easiest plays in DFS and have been for the most part in this series, but this is a place that tells you about some of the guys that are going to help fill your lineup but save you enough money for a couple of these easy locks. Here are my picks for this 10 p.m. matchup on TNT on Wednesday Night.

Lock of the Game

Minnesota Timberwolves

Jaden McDaniels

Minnesota Timberwolves

AT

Los Angeles Lakers

DraftKings: $5,800

Jaden McDaniels is a DFS Machine in this series so far. McDaniels in the series thus far has averaged 34.6 Fantasy points per game on DraftKings, with the only poor game he had was in the lone Timberwolves loss in Game 2 of this series.

McDaniels, so far this postseason, has proved to be one of the difference makers alongside Anthony Edwards, a lot of the time in this series for Minnesota. I look for McDaniels to continue his hot stretch of play in the potential close-out game on Wednesday evening.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Naz Reid

Minnesota Timberwolves

AT

Los Angeles Lakers

DraftKings: $4,900

Naz Reid is one of those players who can light up the scoreboard from the bench as a former Sixth Man of the Year award winner. Reid in this series against the Lakers for the Timberwolves is having middle-of-the-road numbers as he averaged about 19 fantasy points per game in DraftKings in games 2-4 after having 39.3 fantasy points in that thrilling Game 1. As we saw in Game 1, Reid can light the scoreboard from three-point range, and I think he has another game like that on Wednesday for the Timberwolves.

Los Angeles Lakers

Austin Reaves

Los Angeles Lakers

VS

Minnesota Timberwolves

DraftKings: $6,800

The Lakers need Austin Reaves to get going in this series if they want a chance to come back from their 3-1 deficit. The last two games for Reaves have been great fantasy-wise, with 37.3 and 39.8 fantasy points in those two games against the Timberwolves. Reaves is also one of those guys who can be that guy just under $7K that can go off for a 50 fantasy points game if he gets the opportunity to a lot of the time. I think Reaves gets the opportunities in Game 5 needed to potentially go nuclear for the Lakers in DFS.

Sit ‘Em

Los Angeles Lakers

Jared Vanderbilt

Los Angeles Lakers

VS

Minnesota Timberwolves

DraftKings: $3,000

Vanderbilt is one of those interesting guys that could be considered for a start, but I’m sitting him unfortunately. Because until I know for sure that JJ Reddick is going to trust his bench more in certain situations, including the second half of the last game. Also, when you look at Vanderbilt’s production on DraftKings, it hasn’t been great. Vanderbilt has only had above double-digit fantasy points in two of the four games on DraftKings. Please sit Jared Vanderbilt at all costs.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Nickeil Alexander-Walker

Minnesota Timberwolves

AT

Los Angeles Lakers

DraftKings: $3,300

Alexander-Walker is one of those streaky players in DFS, hence why sometimes he’s a great budget option, but he has struggled shooting in this series for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Alexander-Walker had a strong last couple of weeks, but these playoffs, he has struggled to get going. Lucky for him, Minnesota hasn’t needed it from him because of the play of Edwards, McDaniels, and Randle. But if you’re thinking about playing Alexander-Walker on Wednesday, wait until he shows he can find his shot again.

Fade of the Game

Los Angeles Lakers

Jaxson Hayes

Los Angeles Lakers

VS

Minnesota Timberwolves

DraftKings: $3,100

Jaxson Hayes will always be mentioned as my Fade of the Game as long as he is the only big on the Lakers, because JJ Reddick doesn’t trust him to play substantial minutes at the five. Hayes has had struggles playing his role to the standards that the Lakers need him to, and in DFS, if you don’t have the minutes, you don’t have money because there will be no production overall. So, ONCE AGAIN, FADE HAYES AT ALL COSTS!
