Timberwolves at Clippers DFS Start’em, Sit’em December 4, 2024

DFS

This is a fun way to close out a DFS Wednesday night. To begin this season, these two teams have been fascinating to watch. The Timberwolves were supposed to be at the top of the Western Conference this year after making the conference finals a year ago. They are 10-10, and things have not been good from a press perspective, as players have been calling their own team soft. The Clippers have been going under the radar by starting the season off to a great start, even with no Kawhi Leonard so far this year. All the pressure is on Minnesota, which makes this a fascinating matchup.

Timberwolves at Clippers DFS Start’em

Timberwolves F Naz Reid($5,200 on DraftKings)

One of the best bench players in the league for at least the last two seasons has been Naz Reid. Not only does Naz Reid take advantage of coming off the bench, but he usually gets starter-like minutes when he plays well, and usually, he does. While he might not be having his best season, he is still a great play for DFS because DraftKings still values him like a regular bench player which will always give him great value for DFS players and that is the case, so put him in your lineup.

Clippers G Norman Powell($8,600 on DraftKings)

The former Toronto Raptor has made a new home in Los Angeles with the Clippers. Powell has been the Clipper’s leading scorer this season, which has shocked many fans but not people within the organization. Powell is coming off an injury, but in the two games since his return, he scored 28 points, and then last night, he scored 30. Not only does he score a ton, but fantasy owners will be happy to know he is extremely efficient from the floor. The ceiling is high, while the floor isn’t very low. This is a slam-dunk start for tonight.

Timberwolves at Clippers DFS Sit’em

Timberwolves G Mike Conley($6,400 on DraftKings)

One of the great veterans in the league is not a great start for DFS. Conley continues to start for Minnesota but doesn’t produce as much across the board from a stat perspective. He doesn’t make many mistakes, but he usually is the last option to do anything while on the court, which is awful for fantasy players. So, moving forward until a major injury happens, this is an easy sit for DFS.

Clippers C Ivica Zubac($9,800 on DraftKings)

The Clippers center has had a magical season because he has been one of the team’s most reliable players every night this season. Zubac is averaging 15 points and 12 rebounds up to this point. But what lies ahead of him tonight is the tall forward duo of Rudy Gobert and Julius Randle. It will be much harder for Zubac to get those numbers. With this high of a value point, its too high a risk to assume he can match his season numbers.

Conclusion

With this game being a great wrap-up to a hump day, this also leads to exciting DFS plays for fantasy players. There are so many excellent players in this game with a wide variety of value by DraftKings. It makes it a lot of fun to choose but also a lot more stressful in a high-caliber game such as this. Name value isn’t everything. Recent bias and trends are of the utmost importance when doing NBA DFS because name value will leave you out of players to choose from. Look at trends, but that also means field goal percentages, minutes played, and attempts per game to give you an edge.
