The Masters is the first Major Tournament of the Year and is also the most prestigious tournament in the game of Golf. It is treated as a celebration of the game as a whole, with the festivities that the week has as a whole making this the most enjoyable tournament to watch throughout the whole weekend, to enjoy the drama of the journey of putting on the illustrious Green Jacket. Here are my DFS picks for the multiple DFS opportunities on the multiple sites of this illustrious tournament.
Rory McIlroy ($11,100 DraftKings, $12,800 FanDuel)
McIlory is heading into this tournament on the high of his strong play on the PGA Tour in the last couple of weeks, including winning the Players Championship a couple of weeks ago. The trend normally shows that whoever wins the Players Championship normally does well in the Masters Tournament, and Rory has been one of the putters the last couple of Weeks on the Tour as well, as he is currently fifth in one-putt percentage at this very moment.
McIlory does have the Masters Yips so far throughout his career as he has had horrible first rounds, but rallies through the rest of the week to close to the top ten by the end of the week at times. I think if he can get over the first-round jitters this year, he’s going to be there by the end of the weekend, as he has averaged over 102.8 fantasy points per tournament.
Scottie Scheffler ($12,400 DraftKings, $13,500 FanDuel)
Scheffler has been on the down end heading into this tournament but did finish tied for second in last week’s tournament, the Texas Children’s Houston Open. But don’t let his downplay so far in the 2025 PGA season dissuade you from picking Scheffler because he has won two of the last three Masters tournaments, including last year’s tournament. So Scheffler knows his way around this golf course like it’s on the back of his hand. I think Scheftler is one of those guys who will be in the top three down the backstretch of the Final Round of the Masters on Sunday.
Scheffler is my official pick to win the tournament this year, repeating as champion, even though I can’t deny McIlroy’s hot streak. I think it’s between the defending champion and McIlroy for the green jacket.
Phil Mickelson ($6,700 DraftKings, $8,100 Fan Duel)
Mickelson is my DFS budget play for this week because “Lefty” has his moments at the Masters, even though you don’t think that he can show up based on how he is currently playing up to the first round of the Masters Tournament. He is one of the more experienced guys in the tournament as he has been a staple of the golf game for 33 years now and has plenty of experience in Augusta, Georgia, over the years.
He’s won the tournament three times and had a runner-up finish to Jon Rahm in 2023. SO LOOK FOR LEFTY TO HAVE A STRONG SHOWING THIS YEAR AS AN UNDERDOG ONCE AGAIN! I think Mickleson is going to finish in the top 10 this week, with the floor missing the cut.
Conclusion
The Masters is my favorite golf tournament of the year because of not only the history of the tournament and what it means to win it but the impact the tournament has on the world stage on millions of people. I think these three DFS plays are going to be solid starts this week as all three guys not only know the course in a out but have the game to win the tournament if they catch fire throughout the entire week.
