The NBA last two weeks had another interesting week that included a loss for the Nuggets in DC even with Jokic having another strong performance, The Celtics had a horrible shooting night against the Grizzles, and a certain point guard reached 2nd all-time in assists all-time late on Sunday evening. Also, we found out who reached the NBA Cup final last Saturday in two good semi-final games in Vegas. The NBA will have an interesting week with the wrapping of the NBA Cup on Tuesday.
Chris Paul Passes Jason Kidd in All-Time Assists to Highlight Productive Fantasy Week
Chris Paul averaged over 34.8 fantasy points last week fantasy with the main highlights of the week were the last two games of the week against the Kings on Friday, and the Pelicans on Sunday. Against the Kings, Paul had 11 points, 13 assists, 8 rebounds, and a steal, and on Sunday he had 6 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and 10 assists. The Sunday assists were the night’s main story as CP3 passed Jason Kidd for second all-time in assists for a career on an assist to Wemby.
Paul has now etched his name in the history books as the modern floor general of the modern game. He probably won’t catch John Stockton in terms of his mark because that’ll be over 3,000 more assists for him to get without injury. This historically significant achievement is so meaningful in terms of how many more assists he could’ve had if he hadn’t had the injuries he had throughout his career. In the two games last week he had a pedestrian week of fantasy but should bounce back this upcoming week.
Ja Morant is Concerning his Owners with Inconsistent Play
In Morant’s last three games, Morant has had over 40 fantasy points per game in each of those games. Load management is a concern for Morant going forward but it seems like the inconsistent play that was happening before last week has seemed to disappear it is still worth monitoring over the next couple of days this week as the NBA gets back into the regular swing after the NBA Cup Final on Tuesday Night.
Morant should be one of the top point guards in Fantasy going forward the rest of the way especially if he can keep the current play as of last week going. Ja just needed some more efficient play and right now he’s getting that.
Shai vs. Giannis NBA CUP Final is going to be Amazing
Even though the NBA Cup Final won’t be on fantasy matchups scoring-wise this week, the Milwaukee Bucks and Oklahoma City Thunder are going to have a fantastic game. And the two stars for the teams are both top fantasy options this season thus far. SGA and the Greek Freek are both top 5 players at their positions heading into this game and both had good weeks in the last two weeks in fantasy.
Look for both stars to have huge nights even though it won’t be tracked in redraft leagues, but the DFS plays in the NBA Cup especially if you do daily fantasy basketball often. This will be an interesting game to see which team will win the second-ever NBA Cup. Looking forward to watching with the rest of you NBA fans on Tuesday Night.
Final Thoughts
These last few weeks have been tough to navigate in fantasy basketball as the NBA Cup has limited the schedule, which will continue to be limited until next week but it will interesting on how you navigate your lineups once again.
