Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Washington Commanders DFS Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em| Week 10

steelers

Week 10 brings us a battle of division-leading teams as the 6-2 Pittsburgh Steelers head to our Nation’s Capital to take on the NFC East-leading Washington Commanders. The Commanders sit at 7-2 after defeating the Giants 27-22 last week. Washington Commander’s rookie signal-caller Jayden Daniels has more than lived up to his draft price and sits as the overall fantasy QB3. Russell Wilson, in his two starts, has revived the Steeler’s offense and even more so the passing game.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Washington Commander DFS Start ‘Ems

Week 9
Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels (5) looks for open receivers against the Cardinals during a game at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024.

Here are a few of the players that we are leaning on heavily in this game. These players are in a good spot to put together a solid performance in a favorable matchup.

Russell Wilson ($5.9k DraftKings and $7.5k Fanduel)

In his two starts, Wilson has averaged 24.7 fantasy points, 542 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and was the overall QB7. In addition, in his two starts, Wilson rated out top four in yards per attempt and passer rating. Washington’s defense has been better of late but still ranks middle of the pack in fantasy points allowed to the quarterback position.

Jayden Daniels ($7.5k DraftKings and $8.4k Fanduel)

Despite the tough matchup, Jayden Daniels is a DFS start. Daniels gives you a safe floor even in weeks with mediocre passing numbers. Daniels has failed to reach 20 fantasy points just three times in his nine starts. Among those three games, he was hurt in one and finished with 19.86 in another. The Steeler’s defense is fourth versus the run but just 17th versus the pass, so there may be some opportunity there for Daniels to have success with his arm.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Washington Commanders DFS Sit ‘Ems

On the flip side, here are a few of the players we recommend sitting in this one.

Mike Williams (N/A DraftKings and $5k Fanduel)

Some may be tempted to insert Mike Williams into their DFS lineups this week but it comes with too much risk. Williams has barely played as late and could potentially be on a snap count. He still has to learn the Steeler’s offense and morph into a role within the system. We suspect that Williams will be used in some red zone packages, but he is more of a DFS punt play in week 10.

Zach Ertz ($3.8k DraftKings and $5k Fanduel)

Ertz checks in this week as the overall TE16 and is a sit for us. The Steeler’s defense has been stout versus the tight end this season. Pittsburgh is top 10 yards per reception and receiving yards per game allowed to the position. Ertz has fallen into the TE2 category and is a streaming option in the right matchup.

Total Apex Lock of the Game

George Pickens ($6.8k DraftKings and $7k Fanduel)

The insertion of Russell Wilson as the Steeler’s quarterback has breathed life into George Picken’s fantasy value. Pickens is just WR36 overall but in Wilson’s two starts, he is WR10 averaging 22.1 points per game. Pickens has a 26.1% target share, is top six in deep ball targets, and top 3 in red zone targets amongst wideouts. Pickens has the potential to finish as a WR1 by year-end if he can sustain these metrics, and he is still at a suppressed DFS salary.

Total Apex Fade of the Game

Brian Robinson ($6.3k DraftKings and $7.5k Fanduel)

At running back, we are fading Brian Robinson in DFS this week. Robinson was inactive last week with a hamstring injury, so we are uncertain of his workload upon return for the Commanders. In addition, the matchup is not great, as Pittsburgh is ranked fourth versus the rush and tenth in fantasy points allowed to running backs. We will feel better once we see Robinson active and able to get through a full game without re-injury. He is too much risk for us at the $8800 DFS price tag.

Conclusion

The Steelers-Commanders game comes with a modest implied game total at 45 and features plenty of DFS options. The point spread is only a field goal so this sets up to be a very competitive game script. Both quarterbacks come in playing well and there are p;plenty of DFS options to choose from in this battle of first place teams.
