Steelers vs. Colts DFS Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em| September 29, 2024

steelers

The somewhat surprising 3-0 Pittsburgh Steelers travel to Indianapolis to take on the 1-2 Colts in an AFC battle. The Steeler’s fourth-ranked defense is carrying them in the early part of the 2024 season and up next is Anthony Richardson and the Colts. Richardson comes in as QB19 through Week 3, far below his QB5 ADP. This will be a difficult game to get major fantasy production from with an implied game total set at 40. However, we are here to find value for a DFS single game or main slate.

Steelers vs. Colts DFS Start ‘Ems

Here are a few of the players that we are leaning on heavily in this game. These players are in a good spot to put together a solid performance and have a favorable matchup.

George Pickens ($57k DraftKings and $61k Fanduel)

George Pickens continues to be the top option in the Steeler passing game. Pickens leads all Steelers wideouts with 18 targets and features a 72.% catch rate. He is a big play threat every time he touches the ball. Pickens had a 22% share and is number two in the NFL in air yards share.

Jonathan Taylor ($77k DraftKings and $82k Fanduel)

Jonathon Taylor is in the start category every week, even against a stout Pittsburgh Steelers run defense. Taylor is a volume play, he has 51 carries, 261 yards, and a 17.6 fantasy point per game average through Week 3. He is averaging a hefty 5.1 yards per carry. In a game that is hard to find usable fantasy assets, we start Taylor in DFS Week 4.

Steelers vs. Colts DFS Sit ‘Ems

On the flip side, here are a few players we recommend sitting in this one.

Micchael Pittman ($58k DraftKings and $59K Fanduel)

You could put any Indianapolis wide receiver here, the Colts passing offense is not a place to find fantasy points in the last two games. In two of their three games, Richardson has 20 or fewer pass attempts and Piitman is looking at a matchup with Pittsburgh top corner Joey Porter Jr. The Pittsburgh defense is also ranked first overall through week three. Pittman is a sit for us this week.

Van Jefferson ($32k DraftKings and $46k Fanduel)

Sitting Van Jefferson is not earth-shattering news but his usage indicates that Calvin Austin has replaced him in two wide receiver sets. Jefferson had zero targets in Week 3 against the Chargers and has three catches for 15 yards on the season. He shouldn’t be looked at as a fantasy asset in all fantasy football formats, including DFS.

Total Apex Lock of the Game

Justin Fields ($55k DraftKings and $68k Fanduel)

As we always say in this spot, we want a high floor for our lock pick. Justin Fields provides a safe floor in this game with his rushing ability and has improved each week. Last week versus the Chargers, Fields had his best game with 18.4 fantasy points. Fields is also trending up in passer rating, yards per attempt, and passing yards per game.

Total Apex Fade of the Game

Anthony Richardson ($63k DraftKings and $75k Fanduel)

Anthony Richardson without a doubt has a huge ceiling and that is why he is a fade for us in Week 4. Richardson comes into week 4 as QB19 and his ADP was around QB5. That says all you need to know about his fantasy output this season. This week, Richardson faces a Steelers defense that has allowed the fewest points to the quarterback position this year. Richardson has a 49.3 completion percentage and three touchdown passes to six interceptions.

Conclusion

This game is not expected to be a high-scoring affair but we highlighted players that can help bring you a victory in redraft leagues and winnings in DFS.
