Saquon Barkley was drafted by the New York Giants in 2018 and has an up-and-down career up to this point. He is a talented running back in the right system who can excel and be a top-tier fantasy running back. But the main concerns with Saquon have always been his health and the talent around him. The talent around him part was answered now in 2024 when he signed a 3-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles in a big splash off-season move. Let’s run through Barkley’s dynasty value.
Barkley’s Giants Tenure
Barkley entered the league in 2018 with a lot of eyeballs around him coming out of Penn State and he lived up to everyone’s expectations right away. He had 1,307 yards on 261 carries and 11 touchdowns and also had 91 receptions for 721 yards and 4 touchdowns receiving as well to easily win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award along with a lot of your leagues in fantasy that season.
In the subsequent years for Barkley, however, were a lot of a mixed bag. The 2019 season was still a good one for him with over 1,400 total yards and 8 total touchdowns. But in the 2020 season, Saquon suffered a torn ACL which affected him for a period, where now many people have called him injury prone. 2022 and 2023 were kind of resurgence years for him from a fantasy perspective but the Giants still didn’t have much success as a team in those seasons which led Barkley to make a move in the offseason.
New Philadelphia Eagle
Barkley made one of the first huge splashes in free agency when he left the Giants for the division rival Eagles for a huge 3-year, $37.75 million with $26 million guaranteed to be the new RB1 in Philadelphia. Him moving to the Eagles, is the Eagles and GM Howie Roseman showing that they aren’t messing around after the historic collapse they had last season in Philly.
Saquon should help the Eagles immensely in 2024 and bring much value to fantasy teams in 2024. ESPN is projecting Barkley to have over 1,400 total yards and 11 total touchdowns for 252.44 fantasy points in 2024 in midnight green.
Saquon Barkley’s Dynasty Value Going Forward
Saquon Barkley is going to prove a lot of people wrong in his tenure in Philadelphia as he’ll help Jalen Hurts become a better player as well as have an amazing career with the Eagles himself. The main reason why Barkley is going to have a lot of success is the fact that the Eagles will have by far the best offensive line he has ever played with.
Saquon should easily eclipse the 1,000-yard rushing mark in each season of his Philadelphia tenure, as well as bring an impactful receiving presence out of the backfield. The only concern that should be there for Barkley is the injuries but the same concerns were there for DeAndre Swift in 2023. Swift managed to play the most games of his career last season and eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career. So, if you have stayed patient with Barkley in your dynasty team, it will be well worth it for you starting in 2024.
