Reed Blankenship is one of those safeties that a lot of people underappreciate when it comes to being in the top half of the safeties in the league. The former Middle Tennessee State product has been a steal for the Eagles as a UDFA ever since he’s been in the league. Blankenship has a keen sense of knowing how to get to the football at all times. Just look at his interception against the Packers in Brazil, or the pick against the Saints to seal the game. He had to have great instincts and reaction time to get to those throws. Here’s the IDP outlook for Reed.
Reed Blankenship 2024 Production
“Ghost” had 78 total tackles, six passes defended, four interceptions, and a fumble recovery in 2024 for the Super Bowl Champs for a total of 130.9 fantasy points according to Fantasy Pros. Blankenship had a great start to the season and a good close to the season for the Eagles, but there was a dip in production there for a little bit. As CJ Gardner Johnson was getting hot with the interceptions, there for a little bit.
But Blankenship was able to step up his production in both Washington games, where he had over double digits in fantasy points in those games, which was big for the Eagles, even though the Eagles lost the second game, to some flukey circumstances lol. Anyways, let’s move on to the Fantasy Projections for 2025 for one of the Exciting Whites.
Reed Blankenship 2025 Projections
Fantasy Pros has the following projection for him in 2025: 102.2 tackles, 0.1 sacks, 1.9 interceptions, 0.6 fumble recoveries, 0.2 defensive touchdowns for a fantasy point total of 206.1 points. Meanwhile, ESPN’s Mike Clay has him as his 26th-ranked safety with the following stat-line projection: 156.3 fantasy points with 102 total tackles, 1 TFL, 1.9 interceptions, 0.9 forced fumbles.
I think the interception numbers are definitely low for Blankenship, as I think he can easily get three interceptions, and his ceiling is six interceptions. The ceiling for Blankenship is high because he’s going to be the No.1 safety for the Eagles in 2025 by far, and it’s time for him to step it up even more to the next level.
Final Thoughts
Blakenship is one of those safeties who make a lot of plays no matter where he’s on the field at all times. He is going to be a high-ceiling type of safety that is worth picking up in IDP this season, as he is going to be one of those Safeties that is going to exceed expectations in 2025, and will also pull off a surprising dance move here and there along the way in celebration. So if he is available in Drafts, go ahead and pick him up alongside Zack Baun and watch the points rack up in your IDP league. Total Apex Fantasy will have more IDP Outlooks, as well as other NFL Outlooks throughout the offseason.
