Quarterback Start’Em, Sit’Em: Week 2

week 2

We are heading into Week 2 after an interesting Week 1 in terms of passing as we had a low number of passing yards all around the league for one of the first times in a long time. Week 2 has some interesting matchups all around the league that’ll have major quarterback impacts. It will be interesting to see how the quarterbacks bounce back from a down week for many of them.

Quarterback Must Starts for Week 2

Lamar Jackson ($7,700 DraftKings, 8,800 Fanduel)

Lamar is coming off a huge performance in the opener against Kansas City fantasy-wise with 28.12 points on FanDuel and 29.1 on DraftKings. The interesting thing right now is that he has an undisclosed issue at the moment, another thing is that Vegas had a stout day against Justin Herbert only allowing 10.4 fantasy points last week. But the mobility of Lamar is going to be a difference-maker if he does play making him a start this week.

Anthony Richardson  ($6,800 DraftKings, $8,500 FanDuel)

Anthony Richardson is coming off a tough loss against division rival Houston where he was a strong dominant play for fantasy quarterbacks last week. Richardson had 212 yards passing with two touchdowns and also had a rushing touchdown as well. He’s going up against a Packers defense that allowed 34 points to the Eagles even though they had three turnovers forced in Brazil. The Packers are suspectable to the mobile QB game and it should be another tough day for the Packers dealing with Richardson.

Jayden Daniels ($6,200 DraftKings, $7,900 FanDuel)

Jayden Daniels showed the world that he could make a huge impact in the DFS scene a little bit on Sunday against a strong Tampa Bay defense as he found the endzone on the ground and showed off his rushing ability. Daniels finished with 28.16 fantasy points on FanDuel and has the New York Giants this week. Yes, this is the start that will be the Lock for Week 2 because he’s going to break out even more this week as Washington should have plenty of opportunities to make plays after watching the Giants last week.

Quarterback Must Sits For Week 2

On the flip side of things, here are a few of the players we are sitting in this one.

Kirk Cousins ($6,000 DraftKings, $7,000 FanDuel)

Cousins showed that his Achilles was still a factor in the game last week against Pittsburgh, as his lack of mobility in the pocket cost the Falcons against the Steelers. Cousins is coming off throwing two picks and not scoring a single point in the second half at home. This upcoming Monday he’s going on the road to Philadelphia where the Eagles stifled the Packers in the red zone multiple times. Plus the potential of the defensive line of the Eagles could see a similar effect on Cousins as TJ Watt and the Steelers created in Week 1.

Joe Burrow  ($6,300 DraftKings, $7,400 FanDuel)

Burrow was pedestrian at best against a New England defense that on paper Cincinnati should’ve breezed by in Week 1 but they didn’t live up to expectations. Burrow only had 164 yards passing last week. This week he plays the defending Super Bowl champions potentially without Tee Higgins again and maybe a still-limited Jamar Chase. If Cincinnati can’t improve its offensive production, it’s going to be another long day for Cincinnati fans.

Brock Purdy ($6,100 Draft Kings, $7,300 Fanduel)

Purdy is a sit this week mainly because the scheme won’t call for him to be dominant against the Vikings. The Vikings are coming off of dismantling Daniel Jones on Sunday, grabbing two picks including a pick-6. Purdy is a great quarterback who fits the Niners system perfectly but doesn’t translate to fantasy production to make money on the DFS scene. Purdy only had 10 fantasy points on both DraftKings and Fanduel. And he also still might be without CMC, who is still dealing with a calf injury.

Lock of Week 2

Especially at his cost point on DraftKings, Daniels is the right play to play this week.

Fade of Week 2

Joe Burrow  ($6,300 DraftKings, $7,400 FanDuel)

Burrow was pedestrian at best against a New England defense that on paper Cincinnati should’ve breezed by in Week 1 but they didn’t live up to expectations. Burrow only had 164 yards passing last week. This week he plays the defending Super Bowl champions potentially without Tee Higgins again and maybe a still-limited Jamar Chase. If Cincinnati can’t improve its offensive production, it’s going to be another long day for Cincinnati fans. The values on Fanduel are also a major concern for Burrow, as he’ll be my fade of the week.

Sleeper of Week 2

Baker Mayfield ($5,900 DraftKings, $7,400 Fanduel)

Mayfield is the Sleeper of the Week for me because of the DraftKings value of $5,900 alone. Mayfield was electric against the Commanders tallying 29.7 fantasy points on DraftKings and 29.66 fantasy points on Fanduel. The Lions were still susceptible to the pass against the Rams last week and Mayfield’s arm was solely the reason the Buccaneers won the game last week against Washington.

Conclusion

This week’s slate of NFL matchups should be fun throughout the week, starting with Buffalo and Miami on Thursday Night Football on Prime Video. These picks are going to be strong when it comes to whether or not you make money or not. The Jaden Daniels pick against New York was my favorite pick of the week because what I saw from New York last week left me underwhelmed once again. Good luck this week with your DFS lineups and we’ll see you next week for the Week 3 Quarterback Start/Sits.
