In one of the most important series left in the regular season, the teams have the split the first two games of this four game series. But with the Phillies winning last night, they clinched a postseason berth for the third consecutive year and with a win either today or tomorrow, they would clinch there first National League East since 2011. The Mets on the other hand are in the third Wild Card position and hold a two game lead over division rival Atlanta Braves for that spot. Every game matters for both down the stretch with it being a playoff atmosphere, the games should be fun for fans and DFS players.
Phillies at Mets DFS Starts
Phillies RF Nick Castellanos($6,400 on DraftKings)
Matchup wise, the Phillies right fielder has had some bad matchups lately but now its time to get back on the Casty train. Castellanos has great numbers against Sean Manea as in 12 at bats against hum, he is hitting .333 with two home runs. He has always been dominant against left handed pitching and with the career success against the lefty, it’s time to start Castellanos. This price point is quite low for a player of his caliber so this is by far the best value pick for Phillies players.
Mets OF Starling Marte($6,000 on DraftKings)
Marte is known as a Phillies killer in his career and that should continue with a juicy matchup with southpaw Ranger Suárez. In 16 plate appearances, Marte is hitting .375 with a home run. Not just is this a great matchup but the Mets outfielder has been among the hottest hitters for the Mets as he .280 over his last 15 games. Marte was one of the rare Mets who put up decent at bats in last night’s blowout loss so expect that to continue with Marte’s career success against one of the more reliable Phillies starters. This also is the best value pick for both teams as DraftKings has him cheaper than expected so jump all over this.
Phillies at Mets DFS Sits
Phillies 2B Bryson Stott($7,200 on DraftKings)
It has not been a season to remember for Stott. The Phils second baseman has not taken the major step forward that many prognosticators expected and this matchup should not be one to excite DFS players. Stott usually doesn’t start against left handed pitchers but if he does, this price point is just way too high to take a chance on a struggling hitter. Players with lower price points are in better form so take a chance with those players.
Mets 3B Mark Vientos($8,000 on DraftKings)
While it seems like the Mets have found their everyday third baseman for the foreseeable future, in the present, Vientos has not been swinging a good bat. The Mets third baseman is hitting .211 in his previous 15 games and of the players who have hit against Suarez at least 10 at bats, he has the worst batting average. Even with all the recent struggles, DraftKings still has him at an expensive price point so with that, stay away from Vientos.
