Top 4 Overrated Fantasy Football Picks

Fantasy football

Fantasy Football is underway this weekend with fantasy owners picking the best players for their team. The NFL season will kick off September 5th with the Kansas City Chiefs vs Baltimore Ravens. Here is a list of the top 4 players that are overrated to not draft in the early stages of the draft. There are better options and players that will be available in the early stages of the draft.

Jonathan Taylor, RB, (IND)

Jonathan Taylor is coming off a two injury plagued season. Having health issues hindered him from playing in the 2023 season. Even though he’s a great running back and will produce points but he’s a gamble to pick up since his injuries and not being reliable every week. Taylor had 741 yards, 19 receptions, seven touchdowns and 153 receiving yards.

Davante Adams, WR, (LV)

Davante had a great season last year when he had David Carr at quarterback. But now with Carr gone and the Raiders having Gardner Minshew this season, it can be a drop in numbers and productivity for Adams. Adams had 175 targets, 103 receptions, 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns.

Despite having a great season last year, with Minshew at quarterback its unreliable and there are better options in the early in the draft to choose from. If Aidan O’Connell were to see time, Adams becomes less intriguing.

Travis Kelce, TE, (KC)

Kelce will be a top tight end this year but he’s not worth drafting early with other players on the table such as Drake London, Devon Achane and Deebo Samuel. Kelce can be a good option after round six if he still available. However, the Chiefs have other wide receivers that can make plays. This can lead to them steering away from Kelce and relying on him. The 35 year old did have an All-Pro season with 121 targets, 93 receptions, 984 yards and five touchdowns.

Keenan Allen, WR, (CHI)

Keenan Allen now joins the Chicago Bears this season after leaving Justin Herbert and the Chargers. Allan had a phenomenal season last year with 150 targets, 108 receptions, 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns. Allen might be good to draft after round 10 because of the Bears having rookie quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver DJ Moore will bring competition. Allen’s productivity is projected to fall this season given the competition for targets.

Final Thoughts

As fantasy football starts this week and teams drafting players, make sure to avoid players that are overrated in the early rounds of the draft. Not saying these players wont be productive this season but there might be a slight drop in numbers for them. With players on new teams and new systems it can lead to a drop in productivity. It is best to draft other players that are better in the early rounds and save these players for the later rounds in the draft.
