As the last week of the regular season is fully underway for the Yankees, in the Bronx, the Baltimore Orioles have dominated the first two games of the series. While it is basically nearly impossible for the Orioles to come back and win the division, this series has given the momentum that a team would want heading into October. The Yankees are secure in a bye situation but they also want momentum before they watch the wild card series from home.
Orioles at Yankees DFS Starts
Orioles 3B Ramón Urías($5,200 on DraftKings)
This might be one of the most underrated players on one of the most talented ball clubs in the game of baseball. Urías has been magnificent of late for the O’s but he has the strongest number given the at-bats against the Yankees ace Gerrit Cole. In 16 lifetime at-bats, Urías is hitting .438 with an OPS of 1.313. With the matchup, how hot of the bat Urías is, and the low price point for DFS, this is a player who should be in most DFS lineups for this particular game.
Yankees OF Alex Verdugo($3,600 on DraftKings)
The new free agent signing from the Red Sox has not worked out as well as the Yankees hoped. Earlier in the year, Verdugo was an everyday player but now as a platoon, the matchup with Corbin Burnes means he should be in the starting lineup. Verdugo has the best batting average against the Orioles starter with a .400 batting average in five at-bats. This is a low-risk pick as DraftKings slots him at an extremely low price point. With that combination, he can add some value and allow DFS players to get more top-tier talent in the lineup.
Orioles at Yankees DFS Sits
Orioles C Adley Rutschman($7,600 on DraftKings)
The Orioles’ young phenom catcher probably is one of the biggest stars that baseball has to offer but in this A.L. East battle, it is wise to stay away from him, Rutschman is hitting .168 in 16-lifetime at-bats against Cole and many other Orioles have a lot more success against the Yankees ace. He might be the best catcher in all of baseball but this is one of the rare times it’s smart to not start him in your DFS lineup.
Yankees 3B Jazz Chisholm Jr.($8,400 on DraftKings)
While this was one of the biggest splashes at the trade deadline this year, Chisholm is a player that you have to stay away from in the matchup against the Orioles ace. Chisholm Jr. in 12 plate appearances against Burnes is hitting .167 and because both players have played in the National League for the majority of their careers, this is a good enough sample size to realize that it is a bad matchup. Chisholm Jr. is also hitting .148 over his last 15 games so he is struggling and this matchup more likely won’t turn things around for the new Yankees third baseman.
