The Baltimore Orioles had an impressive performance in the desert Monday night, winning 5-1 against the Diamondbacks in Chase Field. Ryan Mountcastle led the team with three RBIs on the night. Mountcastle won’t be in my picks today, but I think he’s a worthy play in DFS if he’s in the lineup. The Diamondbacks are looking for a bounce-back win to keep up in the loaded NL West with the Padres, Giants, and Dodgers. So, with all of the preliminary stuff out of the way, here are my picks for Game 2 of the Orioles and Diamondbacks series!
Baltimore Orioles vs. Arizona Diamondbacks DFS Start ‘Ems
Here are a few of the players that we are leaning on heavily in this game. These players are in a good spot to put together a solid performance and have a favorable matchup.
Gunnar Henderson ($5,500 DraftKings, $3,700 FanDuel)
Gunnar Henderson is slowly making his way back into the form he had in 2024 after an injury in the spring slowed him down. Monday night against the Diamondbacks was the best game for the Orioles’ shortstop as Henderson went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs, two stolen bases, and a walk for a total of 24 fantasy points on DraftKings. I think Henderson will carry that momentum into Tuesday night and the rest of the season as a top play in DFS and Fantasy as he makes a run for the top AL shortstop, along with Bobby Witt Jr.
Jackson Holliday ($4,100 DraftKings, $2,800 FanDuel)
Holliday has had his best season thus far to start 2025, all thanks to some adjustments that have been made to his swing. Holliday is currently averaging 7.4 fantasy points per game, with a .294 average, .785 OPS, a home run, and four RBIs. Even though he had no points on Monday night, I think Holliday is going to be a strong play Tuesday night in DFS lineups as a mid-level budget play.
Corbin Carroll ($5,900 DraftKings, $3,800 FanDuel)
Corbin Carroll has bounced back big time from a lackluster 2024 season so far in 2025 with a .279 average, 1.008 OPS, three home runs, six RBIs, four doubles, a triple, and five walks to start the season. He’s currently averaging 10 fantasy points per game on DraftKings. He only had five fantasy points in Arizona’s loss on Monday night, he is due for a bounce-back performance in game two against Baltimore on Tuesday.
Orioles vs. Diamondbacks DFS Sit ‘Ems
On the flip side of things, here are a few of the players we are sitting in this one.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. ($4,300 DraftKings, $3,000 FanDuel)
Gurriel Jr. has struggled thus far this season, with only three games that jump off the page fantasy-wise, two of them against the Cubs in the opening series of the season. Ever since then, Gurriel Jr. has been cold at the plate, so until he starts to show some consistency, I would sit Gurriel Jr. in DFS.
Total Apex Lock of the Game
Cedric Mullins ($4,500 DraftKings, $3,400 FanDuel)
Cedric Mullins has continued his hot start to the season, as I talked about previously here at Total Apex Fantasy. Mullins notched his 12th RBI last night in the desert, and after his only bad game earlier this season against Boston, he followed that game up with a 25 fantasy point performance the next day. SO I THINK MULLINS WILL HAVE A SIMILAR TREND ON TUESDAY NIGHT FOR THE ORIOLES AS HE CONTINUES HIS HOT SEASON!
Total Apex Fade of the Game
Gabriel Moreno ($3,400 DraftKings, $2,300 FanDuel)
Moreno has only averaged 3.9 fantasy points per game this season, according to DraftKings. He doesn’t make enough impact at the plate to warrant any consideration for fantasy or DFS lineups so far this season. And if he continues this trend, he shouldn’t be anywhere near DFS EVER!
Conclusion
The Orioles should continue their resurgence offensively on Tuesday to earn the win, especially if Henderson, Holliday, Mullins, Mountcastle, and Adley Rutschman all continue their production they have shown at times this season. Carroll is going to be the best player for the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, I feel, but it won’t be enough, unfortunately, for the Diamondbacks against this stacked O’s lineup.
