Week 4 Matchup
The Cleveland Browns (1-2) head to Ford Field this Sunday to take on the Detroit Lions (2-1) in what’s shaping up to be an exciting Week 4 showdown. Both teams are riding high after big wins last week, with Cleveland pulling off a shocking upset over the previously undefeated Green Bay Packers and Detroit absolutely dominating the Baltimore Ravens.
What makes this matchup so intriguing is the contrast in how these teams are finding success. The Lions have rediscovered their offensive groove after a slow start, while the Browns are leaning heavily on a defense that’s quickly becoming one of the NFL’s best through the first three weeks.

Key Details

Cleveland Browns
Cleveland’s defense has been lights out under coordinator Jim Schwartz, a former Lions head coach who knows Ford Field better than most. The Browns lead the league with just 204.3 yards allowed per game. Myles Garrett has been a one-man wrecking crew, consistently terrorizing quarterbacks even while facing the highest double-team rate among edge rushers.
Detroit Lions
Head coach Dan Campbell is focused on keeping his team consistent. “We can’t go through the ebbs and flows,” Campbell said. “After the Packers, we were done for the year. And now, all of a sudden, we’re going to be… it doesn’t matter. We have our own standards.”
The Lions have used pre-snap motion on over 60% of their plays, creating more dynamic opportunities and gaining three extra yards per snap compared to static formations. Their running back duo of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs has powered Detroit to the second-best rushing attack in the league, averaging more than 4.5 yards per carry.
Prediction
After a browser refresh, and a google search, and calling family and friends to see if my internet works the same as their internet, I verified that the Lions are listed as nine-and-a-half-point favorites. Why? How? Just simple logic says the Packers beat the Lions, the Browns beat the Packers. The Browns have the best defense. Lions QB Jared Goff does not like to be uncomfortable. Garrett is having an MVP-type season, making QB’s feel uncomfortable. I am not sure if the Browns will win, but they will beat this surprising point spread.
